Obituary
Larry Stewart passed on Friday morning, July 18, 2008 at 5:00 AM, after a long battle with lung cancer. Larry was born on December 2, 1935, raised in the south Seattle area and is a direct decedent of Stewart pioneers who founded the area of Stewart road in Sumner. Graduated from Highline High School in 1954 where he was a member of the swim team and went on to the University of Washington. A manager for 39 years at the Renton Boeing plant where he had the nickname of tippy toes from the way he walked. If you knew Larry, you liked Larry and everybody knew Tippy Toes. When his name was mentioned it was always followed by ‘he’s a good guy.’ An avid fisherman who could sit in a boat full of people not catching a fish, and he would get his limit. Often times asked to bait a hook or switch fishing poles because he couldn’t be that lucky. He would just say, ‘its fishing not catching, you have to be smarter than the fish’.
He was a people person who enjoyed his friends for life and became an Exalted Ruler of the Elks club in Federal Way. Proceeded in death by his father Robert, mother, Margurette, and brother Jack. Survived by his wife of 52 years Beverly, sons, Mike and Don Kerry, grandkids, Parker, Joe, Kevin, Sister Barbara and many nieces and nephews. The service will be held Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 1:00 PM at the Puyallup Elks Club. In lieu of flowers please donate to Hospice House or the Elks therapy program.
I only met my Uncle Larry and his family three time in my life and I wish I could of made this last visit in person to express my love and offer comfort to Bev and all of Larry’s family. I beleve he rests now in a better world with our Father above.
I’ll always remember the Summer of 1966 when Dad took us out west to meet all our relatives for the first time. Those were happy days in my life that I will always cherish and the way in which I still think of Larry and his family.
All the love we can offer,
Jeff & Kathy Stewart
I believe that I only met Uncle Larry once, when he visited my grandpa Jack Stewart at the nursing home. I send my condolences to Uncle Larry’s family. May my prayers and best wishes be with you.
