Larry J. McConnaughey

 

Larry McConnaughey was born July 11, 1949 in Washington DC, and passed away peacefully at home on September 27, 2013.  Larry grew up in the Bremerton, Tracyton area, and graduated Central Kitsap HS.  After graduation in 1967 he moved to the Seattle area to continue his education and begin a career in Information Technology.  After a 35 year career at PEMCO, Larry moved to Jack Henry Associates to continue to work as a ‘Passport’ Operation Tech, and Senior QA Analyst.  He was a member of the Auburn Eagles, and a life member of the National HOG Organization though not a member of a local chapter. 

His first new Harley was a 1976 Liberty Edition FXE1200.   In 1986 he added to his collection; a new 1987 Softail Custom FXSTC that he and Ginger rode for 100,000 miles over the next 25 years.  His most recent Harley was a 2012 FLHTCUTG Tri Glide Ultra Classic Trike that he called “my retirement plan”. 

Larry is survived by his mother Beverly Romig of Bremerton; sons Kevin and Christopher; his partner Ginger (Mary) Larson; her daughters Kristine (Randy) and Susan; his sister Helen (Randy) Schrader, and his brother Neill (Carol) McConnaughey.  Larry leaves a granddaughter he knew and loved, Taryn, a granddaughter he had yet to meet, Lilly Anne, other grandchildren, cousins, and a nephew.  Larry was preceded in death by his beloved son Jonathon Dean. 

A celebration for Larry will be held Sunday, October 20th from 12-4pm at the Royal Bear, 35731 W. Valley Hwy S., Algona, WA 98001.  A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, October 30th at 2:00pm at Bonney-Watson Washington Memorial, 16445 International Blvd., SeaTac, WA 98188. He will be laid to rest next to his son Jon.   Memorials in Larry’s name may be made to the Hearing, Speech & Deafness Center, Attn: Development, 1625 19th Ave. Seattle, WA 98122. 

Larry Mac will be truly missed.

Talked to my dad last night and he wants to go for a ride so told him to look you up. It was a great ride down here and will be a better ride where you are at. Even though we have not seen you much in last few years you were in my thoughts a lot. You are a good friend. I will see you on the flip side.
