Obituary

Laura May Luxton passed away on May 23, 2004 in Bellevue, WA. She was born on January 8, 1907, in Hastings, Nebraska, to Mary and Conrad Trupp. The family moved to Billings, Montana, where Laura graduated from High School in 1925. She attended the University of Montana Normal School and taught in a country school for one year, before moving to Seattle in 1927. From 1947 to 1964, she served in many capacities at her sister-in-law’s popular restaurant, Rose’s Hiway Inn on Hwy 99 in Kent. Upon retirement she enjoyed tending her garden and roses at her West Seattle home. She was a member of Crown Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, having been a member of the Order of Eastern Star since 1926. She was preceded in death by her husband, S. Roy Luxton, brother Malcolm S. Trupp, and sisters Marjorie Knapp-Bryant and Luella C. Miller. Survivors include daughter Anita Ahten Herbert, Bellevue; son Roy Luxton Peggy, Aberdeen; and son Robert Luxton, Kent. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Viewing will be Tuesday, June 1, 2004 from noon-8:00p.m. at Bonney-Watson Parker Chapel, 900 SW 146th Burien. Funeral services will be conducted by Bonney-Watson Parker Chapel, Wednesday, June 2, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Washington Memorial Park Cemetery Memorials may be made in her name to Evergreen Hospice Services, 12822 124th Lane NE, Kirkland, WA 98042, or to a favorite charity. Arrangements entrusted to Bonney-Watson Parker Chapel.

I remember her yard as it was full of different flowers, shrubs and trees. As a neighbor, I helped mow her lawn and though it took a long time or so I thought I would always get a smile and thank you when I finished.
