LaVerne Thonnes
LaVerne Thoennes, 90, of Federal Way, passed away on December 17, 2013. LaVerne was born December 11, 1923 in Salem, Oregon, and lived in Federal Way for nearly 40 years.
LaVerne is survived by her husband, Leo, and six children, Sandra Smith (Charles), Patricia Goetschius (Don), Catherine Journey (David), John Thoennes, Mary Kretzschmar (David), and Nancy Henderson (David); nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
LaVerne graduated from Willamette University and taught home economics for several years prior to her marriage to Leo. She was an accomplished home maker and volunteered at school and her church.
Funeral service will be held Friday, December 27, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Federal Way.
