Obituary
LaVonne Oceil Myers passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025, at the age of 96. She was born to Alfred and Tillie Sorum on September 11, 1928, in Erskine, Minnesota, and had one older sister, Mardelle. She grew up in Duluth before the family relocated to Seattle when LaVonne was in her early 20s. Upon her arrival in Seattle, LaVonne began working at a construction company, where she was introduced to the man who would later become her husband, Gordon “Pat” Myers. LaVonne and Pat were married in 1951 and welcomed two daughters, Debbe and Michelle. After Pat’s passing in 1989, LaVonne continued living in the Edmonds home before moving to Mill Creek with her second husband, Richard Sparks.
LaVonne was an avid knitter and was known for her beautiful bunny and bear blankets. Those who received a blanket from LaVonne were very special to her, as she took great care in choosing who received one of her amazing blankets.
She took great pride in hosting family and friends for lunches and dinners and held many get-togethers at both the Edmonds and Mill Creek homes. Her family has many fond memories of the pool parties held at the home in Edmonds. Aside from great food and cookies, LaVonne always had warm, fluffy towels and M&Ms waiting for everyone when they got out of the pool.
LaVonne is survived by her two daughters, Michelle (Brad) and Debbe, her granddaughter, Trisha, her great-granddaughters, Michelle and Shivale, nieces, nephews, family, and friends. While the grief of her passing is immeasurable, her family finds comfort in knowing she is once again with her parents, sister, and Pat.
LaVonne will be laid to rest in a private family burial at Washington Memorial Cemetery in SeaTac, WA, on June 19, 2025. A Celebration of Life will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in Edmonds, WA, at a date to be determined later.
