Obituary

Lawrence C. Hardin, 90, went to meet his Lord and Savior January 23, 2022.  Larry was born July 4, 1931, in Seattle, Washington.  He was the sixth of ten bothers and sisters.  His parents were John W. Hardin and Elsie Pearl Warner-Hardin.  He spent most of his younger years in the Seattle-Renton area.  At 23 he began his career at Container Corporation of America in Seattle.  Those first years of his career were devoted to caring for his mother and younger siblings.  If a need arose, Larry was there to support his family.  He was often their sole means of support.  Family was very important to Larry.  After over two decades of caring for his younger siblings, his angel arrived.  In August of 1970 he married his angel, Carole Marie Clemens.  Carole was a Librarian in the Seattle Public Schools. Larry continued to remain faithful to Container Corporation of America. Those were happy years for Larry. He was completely devoted to Carole and she to him.  They were inseparable.   Their first home was in Federal Way.  They soon bought a home in Renton.  Larry and Carole had no children of their own, but cared for two of their nephews for a period of time.  They were natural parents.  They enjoyed taking the boys on outings and to family gatherings.  They began to enjoy the scheduled trips and vacations so much that retirement was the next major step in their journey as a couple.  There were trips to the battle fields of Gettysburg and trips to Eastern Canada.  They enjoyed the warmth and beauty of Arizona and California.  But their greatest adventure was the home they shared in Fort Pierce, Florida.  Spending six months in Washington then heading south for the winter was of great enjoyment to them.  Larry was a faithful member of Panther Lake Community Church in Kent, Washington.  He attended Sunday services as well as the Men’s Coffee Hour every Wednesday.  He was always willing to volunteer his time and talents whenever the Pastor needed help.  Larry entered the final phase of his long life in August of 2011 when his beloved Carole passed away.  Life was very different from that time on.  He remained in the family home until 2017 then became a Charter Member of Merrill Gardens Retirement Home in Auburn.  He enjoyed the activities and made many new friends.  He remained at Merrill Gardens until the spring of 2021.  Due to failing health he moved into Dee’s Adult Family Home in Renton.  His spirit soared there.  He was once again in a loving family environment.  His health remained an issue, but his spirit was blessed.  There was tremendous happiness in his sparkling eyes and broad smile.  He was surrounded by the love from his caregivers, Dee and Jom.   He was now ready to join his beloved Carole.  He started his journey to be with Carole on January 23, 2022. He started his journey from the comfort of his new home in Renton.  He is survived by a brother, Wallace (Dee) in Renton, a brother, Irving in Texas and a sister, Jewel in Mount Vernon and numerous nieces and nephews.  Donations may be made to Panther Lake Community Church.
