Today I said my good byes to a man who I was very proud of, my grandfather. He instilled good values upon my mother his daughter who she in turn instilled upon me. For that, I thank him. Some of my greatest childhood memories were spent at his house with my cousin Kyle. I remember us always having so much fun playing in his back yard. He had the biggest and most beautiful hydrangeas all over his yard. I remember smelling them and picking proudly with Kyle to bring in to him and my grandmother. I remember waking up every morning feeding his dog Whiskers, having a bowl of granola cereal with skim milk, and tang juice. I remember his nightly TV routine, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, then Mash. It’s funny what you remember as a child. I look back now and smile. He lived a great life. Grandpa…I love you!! You will be missed. Thank you for being a wonderful Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, and Person!!

I was deeply saddened to hear of Ledford’s passing. Although I did not know my Great-Uncle Ledford as well as I wish I had, the times I spent with him when he and Mildred would visit Ohio or Indiana are greatly cherished as he seemed so much like my grandfather, and Ledford’s brother, Marvin. The last time I spoke with him was shortly before Marvin’s passing when all of his siblings except for Ray were at Marvin’s house. In the past few days, I’ve dug through many old photographs dating to the 1940’s. What wonderful pictures! My deepest sympathies for all of his children and grandchildren.
