Obituary
Leon Ray Trenary Jr, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2018, at the wonderful age of 90. He was born in Blackwell, OK, on March 30, 1928, to a family of eight children. Leon lived a long, happy life, with story upon story to tell.
Leon spent his early years being raised on an oil field where his family lived, and his parents were employed, and later moved to town when his parents went into the banking business. He served our country in the United States Air Force from 1947 through 1950 and loved to tell stories about his time in boot camp and later at Hickam Air Force Base in Honolulu, where he was stationed. Although he served in peace time, he was always proud of the years he served and wore a large USAF Eagle tattoo on his upper arm to show that pride.
In 1950, after leaving the Air Force, Leon married his sweetheart, Colleen L. Hood, in Braman, OK. They started a family in Great Bend, KS, where he worked for Haliburton Oil and then moved on to Wichita, KS, where he was hired with Boeing. In 1958, when Boeing added jobs to the 727-airplane program in Seattle, he took the opportunity and the family moved to the NW. Once in the NW, he made a job change and went to work for the United States Postal Service where he retired after 30+ years.
Leon had a love of airplanes, cowboy hats, baseball caps, loved country music, tinkering in his yard and garage, and spending time with friends and family. He had a killer smile and had a wit only those who knew him could appreciate. He was a man of faith and was proud that he and Colleen were one of 13 families that founded and built the Federal Way Church of Christ.
Leon was preceded in death by one son, Marklin Ray Trenary, in 2006. He is survived by his wife Colleen, one sister, Judy, of Arkansas City, KS, four children, Terri, Becky, Beverly and Curtis, and 7 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held, Monday, December 17, 2018 at 10:30am at Bonney-Watson Chapel at 1535 SW Dash Point Rd, Federal Way, WA 98023, followed by interment at Tahoma National Cemetery.

I have so many fond summer memories of Uncle Leon and Aunt Coleen and all my cousins. Uncle Leon always cracked us up!! I so enjoyed all the visits and now just have warm and loving thoughts of him!! Love you all!!!
I will always remember the laughter, joy and love he shared with everyone. The greatest love for his family was his best. Will miss you, Leon, as you watch over those you love.
Trenary family, Your dad was so special! He always made me feel like part of the family! His flirtatious humor always had me laughing!! Maybe he will start having lunch with my mom up there in heaven!!! Love you all !!!!!
Aww dad I miss you keep looking at pics, the camera liked you and that smile in all of them. Mike is going to miss calling you when the mariners or seahawks games were on waiting for you to find the right channel. You are loved and missed by many. Love you dad.

Your daddy was the best! His love of you guys, his family, and beautiful gentle spirit made him the special man he was. Full of life and laughter, I loved that big flirt! He had that ornery twinkle in his eye like no other and you just knew he loved you too! His love of people and his willingness to always help anyone that needed it…you could be assured Leon would be there! Yes, him and my daddy and others worked tirelessly and hard on building that church. All with love in their hearts and lots of humor, they knew how to have a good time! All our families get-togethers at holiday time and vacations and motorcycle riding, are very special memories still. I looked at Leon as another dad. He WILL be truly missed, but there is no doubt in my mind he is sitting at Jesus’ feet now, healthy, and happy, and in awe of the Lord he loved. Many blessings to you all in this time of loss and hurting, but please know we care, we are praying for you, and love you, as we loved your wonderful father!

I will always remember Uncle Leon for the caring family man he was and for all the good things he and Colleen did for me as I was growing up. His quick wit and keen sense of humor will always be remembered. In his later years, we had good conversations about the Seahawks and Mariners among many other topics. I shall miss him always, but am happy he is in a better place.
