LEONA A. CORE
Leona A. Core of Renton died Nov. 2, 2006, in Redmond. She was 79.
Born April 27, 1927, in Wapato, she lived in Renton for 71 years.
Mrs. Core worked at Boeing during World War II and was a homemaker. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting, reading, camping and playing the organ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Core. Survivors include her sons, Gary Core of Renton, Russell Core of Seattle, Stephen Core of Tukwila, Bob Core of Everett and William Core of Germany; brothers Fred Russell of Woodinville, John Russell of Graham, and Jim Russell of Kenai, Alaska; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Bonney-Watson Washington Memorial Park in SeaTac.
Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross of King and Kitsap Counties, 1900 25th Ave. S., P.O. Box 24325, Seattle, WA 98124-4325.

I worked for many years with Mrs. Core’s husband at Boeing. I met her once when I took a paycheck to their house when her husband was ill. I felt like I knew most of the family as her husband talked often of her and the boys. My prayers and thoughts go out to the family.
