Doug Prosser passed away peacefully in his sleep July 21 at his residence in Magnolia at the age of 97. Doug was born in October 18, 1909 in Nanaimo, British Columbia. He immigrated to the United States at the age of 6 and attended Garfield High School in Seattle. He married Helen Grant Prosser in 1940. Helen passed away in December of 1984 after a 44 year marriage with Doug. Doug worked 40 years for the Shell Oil Company and lived primarily in the Seattle areas of Capitol Hill and Magnolia. Doug remarried in 1992 to Thora Goodman and they lived in Ballard until her death in 2003. Doug is survived by his two children, Joy Prosser David and Ron Prosser and four grandchildren, Sean David, Kimberly David, Ryan Prosser and April Prosser. Doug was a loving father and husband. He was the subject of the winning My Pops Tops in the Seattle Times in 1963.
A memorial service will be held, Friday, July 27 at 2:00 PM at the Church of Ascension, 2330 Viewmont Way West, in Magnolia. In lieu of flowers remembrances should be sent to Providence Hospice of Seattle.
