Obituary

With heavy hearts, we mourn the loss of Leonard, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend. Leonard Leroy Collins, 79, passed away on July 17, 2023, in Federal Way, Washington.

Leonard was born on March 21, 1944, in Denver, Colorado to father Thomas Collins and mother Eunice Collins.

Affectionately nicknamed Russ, he loved his family above all else. He loved fishing and couldn’t wait for his next big trip to fish and visit with family in Colorado. Russ loved playing board and card games with his grandchildren. Russ had many professions in his life including HVAC technician, security, as well as owning several of his own companies over the years. Russ also proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1962-1965.

Russ is proceeded in death by his loving wife Sheryl Beede Collins, Father Thomas Collins, Mother Eunice Nopens, Sister Annette E. Mathias, Sister Bonnie Jean Harris, Brother Allen Belcher, and brother Ken Collins.

Russ is survived by son Jason and wife Theresa, daughter Melissa and husband Tristan, son Jimmy, son Troy and wife Robin, son Travis, 8 grandchildren, Trevor, Holli, Haylee, Hannah, Kennedy, Lily, Logan and Orion, and 5 great grandchildren, Aubrey, Leila, Giovanni, Elias, and Gianna, sister Lavern Cole, brother Tom Collins and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 29th at 1pm at the LDS Seattle Stake Center located at 14020 Ambaum Blvd. SW, Burien Washington. A reception to follow at 3pm at Saltwater State Park located at 25205 8th Place S, Federal Way, Washington in the Bluffe Shelter Area. All are invited to attend. Private graveside service will follow at a later date.
