Leroy B. Hamilton

Roy was born in Hoquiam, WA on September 26, 1918. As a young boy he had a curiosity about flying, and before he finished high school had his pilots’ license. He served in the Army Air Corps in WWII, in the Aleutian Islands, AK as a crew chief and in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He retired in 1982 after a rewarding 30 year career with United Airlines. He was a quiet, kind, helpful, and generous man, who was well liked by everyone who knew him. During his life he built houses, boats, furniture, and spent hours in his workshop making toys to donate to the Salvation Army at Christmas time. He and his first wife of 60 years, Lucile deceased, were active in their local Airstream Trailer Club, enjoyed many ocean cruises together, and also traveled to Europe. He remarried in 2002 to his present wife Elizabeth Baron Hamilton.

Roy lost his battle with Alzheimer’s on December 7, 2009. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth, son Steven Debbie of Seattle, granddaughter Leslie Feske Mathew of San Carlos, CA, grandson Craig Theresa of Tacoma, and by his son David Karen of Federal Way, grandson Dean April of Seattle, granddaughter Shelley Traynor James of Federal Way, and great-granddaughter Cate Traynor.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 30525 8th Ave. S., Federal Way, WA at 10:00 AM, Friday, December 11, 2009 with interment at Washington Memorial Park.

Remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 12721 30th Ave. NE #101, Seattle, WA 98125.

Steve, Tammy and Howard are here with me. We are all thinking of you and you will be in our thoughts tomorrow as you lay your Dad to rest. He was a very good man. We were lucky to know him. Love, Oopy

Dear Dave:

We are so sorry to hear about your father’s passing away. Needless to say our condolences are with you and your entire family especially with Dean, Shelley, and of course Cate.

The good Lord finally called him home after many years of wonderful service here on earth and although the last few years were hard, his reward for his compasion for others is now be obtained.
