Leslie Jerome Tingley
April 20, 1913- August 4, 2006
Les passed away peacefully at Highline Community Hospital. He had been ill with Alzheimer’s for the past several years and was residing at Wesley Homes in Des Moines since December 2005
He was a colorful character and loved to read and share lifetime stories and events. Les retired from the carpentry trade and frequently shared the many Seattle projects that included landmarks he was a part of.
He and his wife, Hazel L. were charter members of Glendale Lutheran Church under the leadership of Pastor Rieke
During his lifetime he was active with scouting programs, Democratic Party, and Burien Elks.
His later and retired years were spent with family and friends. He continued to read and share his stories of the past.
Les was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Edgar Tingley and Alvina Mauseth Tingley Scott, four brothers, Vincent, Orville, Vernal and Millard Tingley, his three children, Judy Tingley, Brian Tingley, and Pamela Spicer.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Hazel L. Tingley, son Barry Tingley and his wife Helen and daughter in law, Hazel J. Tingley, widow of Brian Tingley, eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and a great number of nieces and nephews and cousin.
He will be missed by his family and friends—but his memory will continue to be loved and enjoyed.
