Obituary
Leslie Harris Rogers passed away peacefully, surrounded by her immediate family, on April 4, 2012 after a hard fought battle with cancer. Leslie was born in Kansas City, Missouri on May 21, 1946 to Ray Eugene and June Harris. Leslie, her parents and sister Beverly moved to Washington state in 1953 where she grew up in Bellevue and graduated from Sammamish High School in 1964. Leslie was a Kappa Alpha Theta at the University of Washington where she met the love of her life, John Rogers, who instantly fell for her dazzling blue eyes. Leslie graduated from the University of Washington in 1968 and became an international flight attendant for TWA. She married John in 1972 and they lived in California, Texas, and Massachusetts before returning to the Inverness neighborhood of Seattle to raise their two daughters, Courtney and Brooke. After winning her first battle with cancer in 1987, Leslie launched her second career as an agent with Windermere Real Estate, an endeavor she found incredibility rewarding both personally and professionally. Helping clients find the home of their dreams was gratifying for Leslie. She was a tenacious business woman and known as a skilled negotiator. Leslie had a talent for decorating with a keen eye for color and style. Her sharp wit and passion for entertaining was legendary – from exotic cuisine choices to extravagant preparation and amazing tablescapes – everyone left her parties feeling special. Caring for and making friends and family feel loved was her top priority. She had a gift for orchestrating practical jokes, many of which achieved legendary status. Leslie deeply loved and cherished her daughters, who knew they could always count on her unconditional support. Leslie especially enjoyed spending time with her two year-old grandson Wyatt, who affectionately calls her “Boo.” Leslie is survived by her husband John, her two daughters Courtney Laughery (Todd) and Brooke; grandson Wyatt Laughery; mother June Harris and sister Beverly Harris; along with her nephew and nieces and beloved friends and colleagues. The family wishes to thank Dr. Hank Kaplan, Dr. Greg Foltz and R.N. Carrie Kirkby of Swedish Medical Center. Services will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 10:30 am at Sandpoint Methodist Church located at 4710 NE 70th Street Seattle, 98115.
