Obituary

Lloyd Hoshide passed away on February 2nd after several months of cardiac rehabilitation at Seattle Keiro nursing home.
Lloyd was born in Seattle on October 16, 1924 to first-generation Japanese parents Sokichi and Toshiko Hoshide. He grew up in Rainier Valley with his brothers Masuo Mouse, Toshio Tosh, Akira Dean and Kazuko K.C. Sakura. Though interned during WWII because of his Japanese ancestry, he dutifully fought in battle for the U.S. against the Nazi regime in Italy. During Lloyd’s 40+ years as a Boeing employee, he rose to the position of Manufacturing Engineer despite not having a college degree. After his retirement from Boeing in 1989, Lloyd became active in neighborhood issues. He enjoyed traveling around the U.S., whether it was to go gambling in Las Vegas with his wife Fumiko, to visit his daughter May in New England, to meet up with old friends, or to help relatives with their affairs. Wherever his travels took him, Lloyd brought his computer so that he could play card games, monitor investments, or follow his curiosity on the internet.
He is survived by his daughter May Rika Hoshide, son-in-law Daniel Zoot, grandsons Rin Hoshide Zoot and Take Hoshide Zoot all of Aomori Japan sister-in-laws Doris Hoshide Rockville, MD and Eva Kato Whittier, CA, cousins Hideo Hoshide and Yaeko Nakano both of Seattle WA. In addition to his parents and siblings, Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife Fumiko in August of 2007. A memorial service will be held at Bonney Watson on Capitol Hill on Tuesday, February 10 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Denshō.

We are truly sorry we missed the news of your loved ones passing. Please know that Lloyd waloydx was our beloved friend and we miss his company on our forums. We were blessed to have known him. While we are saddened to lose Lloyd we are grateful that he lived a long and wonderful life.
