Lloyd Snider, a loving husband, devoted father, and respected community leader, peacefully passed away on September 23, 2023, in Federal Way, Washington, at the age of 92. He was born on August 16, 1931, in Stavely, Alberta Canada, to Fred and Ada Snider.
Lloyd’s life was marked by his enduring commitment to his family, his extensive career, and his unwavering dedication to serving others. His love story with Donna Snider spanned an incredible 66 years of marriage, during which they forged a bond that was unbreakable. Their love and partnership were a source of inspiration to all who knew them.
Lloyd’s greatest joy in life was his family including his wife, five children: Christopher (Karen) Snider, Stephen (Sandra) Snider, Kevin (Beth) Snider, Tamara Snider, and Bridget (Jasen) Baskett, his 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. His special bond with his sister Jean Lavonne Burger-Martin was truly cherished. He was a pillar of strength, guidance, and unconditional love in their lives, leaving an indelible mark on each of them.
Professionally, Lloyd had a distinguished career that spanned many decades. He began his journey at Commercial Credit, where he had the good fortune to meet his beloved Donna. His financial expertise and dedication led him to work with various banks, culminating in his retirement from Key Bank. Lloyd was a founder of Pioneer Human Services and later served as Chairman of the Board for the organization, advocating for those in need and working tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of others.
Beyond his career, Lloyd was a philanthropist and community leader. He was a member of civic organizations whose goals were to assist others in the community.
Lloyd possessed a zest for life that was contagious. He reveled in the outdoors, enjoying golfing, fishing, and even playing basketball well into his 80s. He was an avid baseball fan, and his passion for sports brought joy and camaraderie to those around him.
Lloyd was a man of deep faith and served as a Deacon in the Catholic Church, dedicating himself to the St. Francis of Assisi parish in Burien, Washington. His spiritual guidance and compassionate nature enriched the lives of those he ministered to.
Lloyd Snider’s memory will forever shine brightly in the hearts of his family, friends, and the community he touched. His legacy of love, kindness, and service will continue to inspire and guide us all.
Funeral Mass to celebrate Lloyd’s remarkable life will be held on October 9 at 11:00 am at St. Francis of Assisi parish in Burien.
