Lloyd was born in Frazee, Minnesota to William and Ida Wessel. During World War II he served 4 years in the 300th Army Air Forces Base Unit as an aircraft crew chief, and held the rank of Staff Sergeant. He worked for United Airlines as an aircraft mechanic from 1946 to 1980. It was in Seattle that he met the love of his life Laurell Foote, who he married in 1949. They had two daughters who along with his wife and grandchildren were the great joys of his life. A meticulous craftsman and mechanic, he kept everything in his house and yard immaculate and running smoothly, Lloyd enjoyed baseball, gardening and carpentry. Most of all he loved doing things with and for his family. His daughters were the envy of the neighborhood with a backyard playhouse, deluxe swing set, double-decker tree house and numerous go karts. He also enjoyed traveling and seeing the world with his wife and children. In retirement he continued to enjoy doing and making things with his grandchildren, who lovingly call him “Papa”. Lloyd was preceded in death by Laurell his wife of 56 years. He is survived by two daughters Joan Alan Bunge and Donna Andrew Makar, a sister Blondina Wessel, granddaughter Megan Joshua Caldwell, and grandson Brian William Bunge.
