Obituary
Lois passed away peacefully on June18, 2018, in Seattle.
Born September 5, 1924 in Rochester, MN, she was preceded in death by her husband George of 47 years, son David, parents Ida (Bluhm) and Ernest Pagel, sister Alta, and brother Carl.
Lois grew up on her family’s farm in Olmsted County. After finishing school she worked in the office at Mayowood Farm. She met George while he was being seen at the Mayo Clinic. When she moved to Seattle in 1946 she was employed at Providence Hospital. In 1947 she and George married. They eventually settled in West Seattle and raised two children.
After an early retirement, Lois and George enjoyed traveling to various conventions around the country while George served on the board of directors of the Northwest chapter of the Paralyzed Veterans of America. Later she continued her travels with friends on tours to Guatemala, China, Nepal, and Bali.
Lois was a long-time member of Hope Lutheran Church in West Seattle where she served as treasurer for the Women of Hope organization. Additionally she supported the Ensenada Christian Ministries, Friends of Literacy and Nightwatch. She took great joy in gardening, walking around Alki, and spending time with her granddaughters
She will be remembered as a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, caretaker, and friend.
Many thanks to the staff of Foss Village and Nursing Home for the loving and professional care they provided to Lois in her final months.
Lois is survived by her daughter Karen and son-in-law Dan, granddaughters Britta and Julia (Andrew), and great-granddaughter Lena.
A memorial service will be held Monday, July 2, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church, 4456 42nd Avenue SW, Seattle.
