Lottie B. White

Obituary
Lottie Belle was born November 7th, 1923, to the parents of Joseph and Willie (Bryant) Zuber, in Atlanta, GA. She was the sixth child of seven, including Hawthorne, Barry, Ida (Hagans), Joseph, Elizabeth (Morton George), and sister, Victoria (Morgan). As an early teenager, Lottie met and became good friends with a young man that would eventually lead to a lifelong relationship that could be described in one word, Amazing.
On August 29th, 1943, Willie White and Lottie became husband and wife. They made a home in Atlanta, raising three sons. When Lottie’s father and siblings migrated from Georgia to Bremerton, Washington, the White family packed up and followed. They eventually made a home in Seattle, where the fourth son was born. In time, “Mama” would become the matriarch of a family which spans five generations. She was always there for her family; the overnight babysitting of her grandchildren, the holiday dinners, and the loving wisdom she shared with all of us. Her warmth and kindness went to anyone who came into her home.
Even as a child, Lottie was industrious, tireless, and always quick to lend a hand. And she never went anywhere or did anything without a smile. Once in Seattle, she went to work at the Boeing Company where she enjoyed a brilliant career until she retired with over thirty years of distinguished service. But she didn’t stop there. Lottie was very active and dedicated to Madrona Church. If there was anything she truly enjoyed, it was travel. Be it a day long road trip to the ocean, or an excursion to the far corners of the world that would last for weeks. The familiar phrase among the family was always “Mom and Dad are gone again”.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her devoted husband of 68 years Willie, her sister Vicky, her sons Willie Jr. (Jeri), Rodney (Maria), Michael (Donna), and Anthony (Deborah); grandchildren Willie III, Brenda, Rachel, Nicole, Rodney, Danielle, Benjamin, Kellen and Tia. And she also leaves ten great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. We grieve her passing, yet we celebrate the life of our cherished wife, sister, mother, grandmother and friend. Mama, you will forever be in our hearts.

To the family of Lottie White. I had the privilege to attend Madrona church with Lottie and Willie until 1984 when I got married. They were one of my favorite couples there. I was always touched by seeing this beautiful, loving couple together at church and observe their interaction together. Lottie and Willie were a beautiful example of not only Black love, but of Christian love. I have been married now for 27 years, and I can say that their example was one I will always hold close to my heart. I loved Lottie and Willie. They loved me in return. They loved their church family at Madrona and were always generous to all. Thank you family, for sharing this jewel of a human being with all of us. God bless you. May you find peace in knowing that she knew the Lord and served Him with gladness. Shawn Richard-Davis & Family

There was no one to compare with Mama. She was always the most welcoming and loving person. I am so grateful that she was in the lives of her grandchildren for so long. They were able to appreciate her warmth and unconditional love throughout their years growing up.
I will never forget Gramma’s constant smile, warm hugs, insatiable appetite for travel, and the best potato salad on earth! She will be truly missed. I continue to think of her often.
I was truly blessed with all four of my grandparents in my lifetime. I will miss “mom” (Grandma) with all my heart. I will miss her smile and giggle that lit up her face and my life. She loved us all unconditionally… I pray we all remember the life lessons she thought us in through her gentle ways and actions each and every day. I’ll love you always!
Grandma I will never forget your smile or laugh, even now I miss it. You were one of the greatest people I knew, always loving. Love you always, you will be missed!
I’ve always loved the visits at Aunt Lot’s house. She was so kind and we would sit and laugh the whole time. My favorite story is while walking up to her home with my dad he slipped and fell. I told Aunt Lot and we teased my dad and laughed the whole time. I’ve had a life time filled with nothing but wonderful stories told about her. She will truly be missed but she will always be in my heart and thoughts. My prayers go out to the White family in this difficult time. Love you Aunt Lot

I miss many things about my Grandma White. She was beautiful and I admired her style and how pretty she always looked. But more than that, she was beautiful inside. She was always smiling and laughing, and always so kind. I thank her for showing me how wide an wonderful this world is, and for teaching me so much about travel and culture. Sending my love to all my family right now, and most of all… I love you, Grandma.
