Obituary
Louis Louie Dominic Pavone, age 87, passed away peacefully at his home in Chehalis, WA on July 25, 2009 after a long battle with cancer. Louie was born in Seattle, WA on June 7, 1922. He was the 13th child of Angelo and Adeline Pavone. Louie is survived by his son, Steven, who resides at the BelAire Rehabilitation and Special Care Center in Tacoma, WA. Louie was preceeded in death by his wife of 58 yrs, Theresa Anne Pavone. He will be missed by his brother John, his sister Janette and many nieces and nephews.
Louie grew up in Seattle, WA and attended the Benjamin Franklin Vocational Center in Washington before entering the U.S. Army in 1940. He faithfully served his country in the Army from 1940 to 1946. In early 1942, he was taken prisoner on Corregidor by the Japanese and spent the next three and one half years in prisoner of war camps. In late 1945 he was freed from the Mukden Manchuria Camp by the Russian Army.
Theresa Anne Minotto became Louie’s wife in 1947. He lovingly took care of Theresa in her final years as she suffered with multiple health problems. Louie moved to Chehalis, WA after his wife’s death in 2006 and spent the remainder of his life on his five acres of land. He enjoyed visiting with his son in Tacoma, keeping his acreage mowed with his 49 Ford tractor and listening to his player piano.
Louie retired from Kenworth Motors in 1984 after 38 years of service. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, the American Ex-Prisoners of War, the American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
A memorial service will be held at Washington Memorial Park & Mortuary at 16445 International Blvd, Sea-Tac, WA on Thurs., September 24, 2009 at 2:00pm. A reception will follow. Donations in Louie’s name can be made to the Disabled American Veterans, 915 2nd Ave. Room 1040, Seattle, WA 98174.
