The Obituary of Lovina May Carr
July 7, 1929-April 12, 2005
75 ½ years
Cherished Lovina May Kinney/Gunstone Carr went home to be with Jesus, after a courageous 14-year battle with ovarian cancer, on April 12, 2005. She was born July 7, 1929 in Olympia, WA. Calvin K. Carr was her faithful husband of 39 years. She is survived by three children, Denise Hicks of Jerome, Idaho, Debbie Blumenthal of Sumner, Washington, and Donald Gunstone of Portland, Oregon. She had nine grandchildren and held her first great-granddaughter one month before she left us.
Mrs. Carr worked for Montgomery Ward Catalog stores in Burien, Bellevue and Renton,. Her first focus was always family. She loved trailering, being active in her church and sharing Sunday night “Chinese Noodles”. Other interests included beach combing, flowers, doll collecting, and movies & popcorn at home. Bird watching enchanted her, especially her “owlies” and more than anything she loved allowing the love of Jesus shine through her to others. She will be greatly missed.
A memorial service with be held at Boulevard Park Presbyterian Church, 1822 South 128th Street, Seattle, WA 98168 206 243-6800 on April 18th at 2:30 pm. She requested any memorial gifts be sent to the American Cancer Society.
As a friend of Denise, and I have worked with her, I know how much she loved her mom because she talked of her often. Your family is in my prayers.
May our Lord Jesus, be with you and comfort you during this most difficult time. May His peace be present.
Dear Denise and Family
My prayers are with all of you as you say good bye to your mother and grandmother. I know it is hard to let go. It must be good to know that she isn’t suffering anymore. I hope that it is of comfort to know that you will see her again someday in heaven.
Lori
The light of Jesus has shown so beautiful through Lovina into her daughter Denise. What more could a mother ask than that her legacy be passed on to her children.
We are sorry for the loss of your mom and grandmother. We could see that she was very special and so loved by her whole family. May God bless you. Willie and Valerie

In 1989, I was blessed to have the opportunity to meet my Dad’s family. I’ll never forget the sparkle in her smile, the way she called me Kenny, while others saw me as the adult Ken. I regret that I never took the time to stay in touch.
With deepest sympathy,
Kenny Carr

My deepest sympathy to you, Cal, for the loss of your beloved wife and to your children for the loss of their mother. I attended Grace Baptist Church with you and have many happy memories of your love for our Lord. You may remember me as Barbara Mitchell. We had/have many mutual friends like Anne & Dale Lewis, Mr. & Mrs. Vernon Reid and Paul and Millie Gervais. Heaven just keeps getting sweeter, but, I know how hard it is to lose a mother and a loved one. Bless your hearts. Asking God to comfort you during this time.
You have been and will continue to be in our prayers. May God’s peace and comfort be yours.
Love,
Joe and Mary
