John M. Wilson, Jr., LTC USAF Retired
On March 22, at the age of 82, this beloved husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa, passed into eternity, where he will no longer suffer from the distresses of vascular dementia.
He was born in Asheville, NC and moved to the Tri-Cities in WA with his family when he was 10 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents, John M. and Sue Wolfe Wilson, and his sister, Betty Jean Boies and his niece, Jacqui Loveness. He is survived by Marilyn (Grove) Wilson, his wife of 58+ years; their daughters Jeanne Gammon and Lori Boone (husband, Bill); and son, Keith Wilson (wife, Shelly); five grandchildren: Johnna Nunn (husband, Jared), Justin Boone (wife, Mollie), Tarin Boone, Lyndsey Wilson and Camille Wilson; and six great-grandchildren: Delaney Taubel, Colby Poggemoeller, Hayden Boone, Abigail Nunn, Nolan Boone, and Elliot Nunn, and by his brother, Carl L. Wilson, and nieces Carla Allison, Jane Boies, and Cindy Boies.
He was a graduate of Kennewick High School, and Central Washington University, where he earned his BA in Education, and was commissioned through the ROTC Program to pursue a 21-year career as a pilot in the United States Air Force. After his retirement, he returned to The Boeing Company for a second career as an instructor in maintenance training which he pursued until his retirement in 1997.
He will be remembered for his love of God, family and country; his infectious laugh; and his servant heart for helping those in need. It was no secret he loved cars, camping, road trips, golf, and working with the Monday Morning Maintenance Crew at his church.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Friday, April 7, 2017, at Highlands Community Church (3031 NE 10th St, Renton 98056). In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Vision House, Central Washington University, or Alzheimer’s Association.
There will be an honor guard, graveside ceremony, prior to the memorial service, at the Tahoma National Cemetery which is open to all. Arrive by 8:45 am. Ceremony ends at 9:30 am.
We rejoice and thank God for his life and faith. Blessings to Marilyn and family.

I am saddened to learn at this late date of Jack’s passing. I shared a two man cubicle at Boeing Maintenance Training with Jack for many years in the 1980s. He was the best mentor I could has ever asked for. Jack was always kind and helpful. He was one of the most admirable men I have ever met. My life was improved by knowing Jack. I am grateful to the Universe for bringing my life into Jack’s life. Thank you for being my friend, Jack. I miss you.
