Obituary

Lucila “Lucy” Cruz Pasion, age 89, passed away peacefully on October 31st, 2017. Lucila was born in Bulacan, Philippines to parents Dorotea Diño and Roberto Cruz.

She married her beloved husband, Moises, a public school teacher, in the mid-1950’s when they were both 25 years old. Since then and for over 60 years, they have been companions in love and life.  Lucy and Moises became the parents to Rolando, their only child, in 1954. Lucy cherished her role as a mother, often extending her care taking to those in need or who just happen to cross her path.  Lucy was selfless, giving her talents and love to others all of her life.

Lucy earned her Bachelors Degree in Pharmacy from Centro Escolar University in 1952.  She and Moises went on to own and manage their own two Pharmacies aptly called, “Lucy’s Pharmacy”  in Manila, Philipines. They first traveled to the United States to visit relatives in 1972, and right after returning to the Philippines, they applied for US residency. They moved to  the US in the early 1980’s, buying their first home in North Hollywood, California. In the early 90’s, they moved to Federal Way, Washington to be close to their son, Rolando. They later settled in Tacoma, WA.  In 2011, Lucy and Moises became the very proud grandparents to their only grandson, Paolo Cruz Pasion.  “Lola” (Grandmother) Lucy and Paolo had an extraordinary and special relationship.  It is this relationship that brought the most joy and light to Lucy in her final days.

Lucy was a thoughtful and caring woman, a devoted  wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.  She treasured her extended family and received tremendous happiness in every moment she spent with them. Lucy is cherished and will forever be missed by all who knew her.

Lucila is survived by her husband Moises,  son Rolando, grandson, Paolo Cruz, daughter in-law Laurel, sister Mely , and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
