Obituary
Luis Lim Oh (1927-2015)
Born January 30, 1927 in Fuchien Province, China, Luis passed peacefully at his retirement home after a long illness surrounded by his family, on Sunday, February 8, 2015, at the age of 88. An accomplished Boeing senior principal electrical engineer of 39 years before his retirement in the early 1990’s he was involved in the design and testing of various civilian and military airborne radar systems including AWACS and MILSTAR, a pioneer in aircraft lightning strike research, an inventor with seven patents, author of numerous research papers in IEEE that are still cited today and much more. Being the perennial engineer, tinkerer and troubleshooter, he enjoyed the challenges of fixing the un-fixable whether it be multi-million dollar radomes, avionics or one of his grandchildren’s broken toys.
His greatest legacy however is not in engineering, but in the love he showered on his family, grandchildren, extended family and friends. First and foremost he was a loving husband to his wife, a terrific father to his children, a doting grandpa to his grandkids and a friend you could count on. He modeled loving- kindness, compassion, faithfulness, integrity, patience and a great sense of humor.
Luis is survived by his wife of 56 years, Teresa Oh, his three children, Alexander Oh (Margaret), Cynthia Lohman (Kevin), Diane Yee (Victor) and his grandchildren Jared and Meghan Oh, Cara and Trevor Lohman, Nicholas and Samantha Yee. He was preceded in death by his brother Steve, his son Ben, his mother Luisa Lim Oh and his father Tiong King Oh.
His family gratefully acknowledges Luis’s caregivers for their kindness, compassion and outstanding service in his last years.
A Celebration of Life for Luis is scheduled for Friday, February 13, 2015, at St. Edward’s Church at 10:00 am (4205 S. Orcas St., Seattle) followed by a reception at Jumbo Family Restaurant (4208 Rainier Ave. S., Seattle).
Donations in Luis’s memory may be made to King County Fire Protection District #20, 12424 76th ave. South, Seattle, WA 98178.

I saw Luis and Teresa at many of their grandchildren’s athletic events and stage performances over the years. He was a rock! His quiet and consistent presence must have been a source of comfort and joy to his all of his kids and grandkids. He will be greatly missed.
So sorry to hear of the loss of your husband, father and grandfather. I never had the good fortune to meet Mr. Oh but I am sure that Cindy’s zest for life, intelligence and love of family are a direct result of the way he lived his life and loved his family. No matter how much life he lived, he will be missed by all who knew him and I am very sorry for your loss.
I am so sorry to hear of your loss.
Our Farinas family sends you our deepest sympathy for the loss of Luis, husband, father and grandfather. Our families go back many decades and we will continue to hold all of you in prayer.
Condolences. Luis was a humble man. Although we both worked as electrical engineers at Boeing, he never talked about his accomplishments or his four patents. May he rest in peace.
I would like to express my deepest condolences to Luis Lim Oh’s family. May you find comfort knowing that Luis Lim Oh is in God’s memory, and his beautiful promise in Isaiah 25:8 to soon cease all death and suffering. May Jehovah bring you comfort and peace during this difficult time.
