Marcel Alaura Buzzard
Marcela was born in Cebu City, Philippines on January 17, 1936 and passed away peacefully in her home of 50 years on January 26, 2019. Through the years Marcela bought her helpfulness, care and love to the Filipino Community of Seattle, the Cebuanos of Washington, the Seattle / Cebu City Sister City Association, the Immaculate Conception Church and Saint James Cathedral, where she was instrumental in the enshrinement of Señor Santo Niño. She was a member of Teamsters #117 for 30 years. Kind, funny, generous, encouraging and loving, she loved to entertain and was at her most natural in front of a crowd signing to them in her marvelous voice. Marcela is preceded in death by her mother Irenea Alaura, her eldest child Steve and her beloved husband of 60 years, Jack Dempsey. She is survived by her son Laurence, her daughter Irene (Henry) Alazas, and her daughter Myra (Alan) Donaldson. Marcela leaves four grandchildren, Elizabeth Doran and Owen, Griffin and William Donaldson, and two great-grandchildren, Elora and Aven Doran. She is also survived by her brothers Nelson (Fe) Ruedas and Donald (Charito) Ruedas. There will be a Funeral Mass said at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Thursday, February 7, 2019, followed by her interment at Washington Memorial Park. She will be dearly missed and loved by all.
Our hearts broke into a million pieces our lives changed forever. No words can ever describe what you’ve done for your family, extended family and friends except Everything
You are the calm in the storm, the sun above the clouds the water that is needed to make things grow and flourish. You are our foundation.
You raised us. took care of us, all that a mother is, you are and more.
Into paradise with our Lord Jesus Christ. May perpetual light shine upon you, rest in peace forever Mom until we meet again.
I love you forever.
Your son and daughter.
I am so thankful and feel so blessed to have shared a friendship with Marcela.
I was young, yet we bonded so strongly. She sang beautifully at my wedding and hosted my baby shower for my first child.
We shared many laughs and smiles as she introduced me to dim sum and calamari (not the breaded kind)…. that memory still makes me laugh.
I am going to envision her happiness as she hugs Jack and son Steve in Heaven… although I will be sharing in the sorrow of those left behind right now.
So much love to this beautiful lady and her family. I am so so thankful I was able to be part of it.
Words cannot express the sadness our hearts felt upon learning about the passing of Marcela. A woman that had been in the life of my family from the time I was a young child. Always making me feel loved, welcomed, and safe while in her presence. You were that rare gem. Though your physical time on earth has passed, what you have left behind by the many hearts you have touched remains forever. You will be truly missed more than you will ever know. May God put a hedge of protection around your family. Rest in Peace sweet Marcela for your job here was well done. We loved you so much.
The Bruner Family, Willie Mae and Zackery Bouey (who considered you a sister)
