Marcia L. Skougstad
December 27, 1929 – April 27, 2007.
Loving Wife, Mother, Grand Mother, Great Grand Mother, Aunt, Friend and Neighbor. Marcia was born in Seattle, to John James Davies and Ida Mae King Davies. Her parents met and married in Colorado and eventually settled in West Seattle. They had 6 children, of which Marcia was the youngest.
Marcia and Archie married on July 4, 1950, making their home in West Seattle where they raised their two daughters Sharon and Dawn. Later, Marcia and Archie moved to DesMoines, WA.
Marcia was talented and creative. She loved to dance. She and Archie belonged to several Square Dance clubs. She sewed square dance dresses for herself and her daughters. Being a wonderful seamstress, she also sewed many wedding dresses for her daughters and nieces. A born leader, Marcia enjoyed being involved with many organizations and served as a leader for Girl Scouts, President of the Fauntleroy PTA, Rainier Square Dance Council, Eastern Star and served two terms as President of the Board at Huntington Park. Marcia also enjoyed the arts. She was a regular donor to the Seattle Opera, holding season tickets. She also loved to travel including several trips to the East Coast, Hawaii, England, Wales, Ireland, a cruise through the Panama Canal and even undertook the great adventure of driving their motor home to Alaska and back.
Marcia is survived by her husband of 56 years, Archie T Skougstad, 2 Daughters; Sharon Francis of Tacoma, Dawn Davies-Heideman husband Philip of Wenatchee and “adopted” East Coast Daughter, Doris Dyer. 2 grandsons; Shawn Francis wife Sandi and Timm Francis. 2 Great Grand Daughters; Rebecca and Katelin. 3 Step Grand Children, Josh, Kayla and Jon. Numerous Nieces and Nephews who were all dear to her heart
Dear Sher, Dawn, and father Archie along with the rest of the loves one. Want to take a moment to share my deepest condolences for the loss of Marcia. Please know you each are in my thoughts and prayers. Sher you are a wonderful person with a great heart and I am honored to have known your mother through you.
