Obituary

Our beloved mother, Margaret Mahr, passed away peacefully, on June 23, 2008 at Valley Medical Center, with her three loving children by her side. She was born in the small town of Winlock, WA, on February 14, 1918, the youngest of ten children.
When Margaret was in her twenties, she moved to Seattle, where she would later meet her husband, Ernie Mahr. They had a quiet simple life and after his death, she missed him very much.
Family was always important to Margaret. Since she loved to cook, she took every opportunity to prepare a delicious meal and invite the entire family over for dinner. As she neared ninety years old and had lost much of her hearing and most of her vision, her idea of a perfect day was to spend the afternoon with her children and their families, going out to eat or to Starbucks for a frappuccino.
Margaret was a devout Catholic and attended St. Peter’s Catholic Church on Beacon Hill for over fifty years. Until the last few years, she was an active member of many organizations there and loved getting together with her friends.
Margaret is survived by children Jan Hansen Bruce, Kathy Yates Roger, and Steve Mahr. Other survivors include grandchildren, Jenny and Kevin Yates, Kelly and Paul Hansen, great-grandchild Janessa Hansen, and numerous nieces and nephews. The rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Saturday, June 28, at Bonney-Watson Capitol Hill, 1732 Broadway, Seattle. Funeral Mass at 11 am. on Monday, June 30, 2008 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 2807 15th Ave. So, Seattle.
