Margaret Mary Monaghan (Walsh), 81
Born August 6th,1934 to William and Marie Walsh in Spalding, Nebraska, Marge was the third child and only daughter in the family.
Marge attended St. John’s High School in Omaha, where she was chosen as Junior Senior Prom Queen. After getting married and having five children, Marge and her family moved from Nebraska to Federal Way, WA in (1966). She returned to Nebraska many times after to visit her family, lifelong friends from St. John’s, and remained a Nebraska Huskers fan, of course. Although Marge worked many jobs throughout her life, her most important role was driving a school bus for the Federal Way School District. She loved her job as a bus driver and enjoyed taking students to and from school, on field trips, and to team sporting events. Marge also worked for Bonney Watson Funeral Home during this time and even after retiring as a school bus driver, she returned to Bonney Watson to continue driving – this time as a courier.
Marge was very active in her community and spent hours each week volunteering at the Enumclaw Senior Center, singing with the Cascade Foothills Chorale, taking water aerobics classes, and being involved in her church. She loved reading, baking, cross stitching, and spending time with her family.
Marge passed peacefully at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup on March 21st 2016.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Dick and Bill and survived by her brother Tom, James (SR) the father of her 5 children – Jim (jr), David, Pam Brenaman( Terry) Brian (Kathy), and Colleen, 16 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, April 2 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and a memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. at Washington Memorial Park, 16445 International Blvd., SeaTac, Washington 98188. Potluck reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Marge by doing the following:
The next time you have a cup of coffee – take a moment to sit down, relax, and actually enjoy it.
The next time you make a piece of toast – be sure to spread butter all the way to the edges.
And finally, the next time you’re feeling a little ornery – embrace it, smile, and think of Marge.
My condolences to the entire family of Marge. I worked with Marge at Bonney-Watson for several years until her retirement. It was truly a delight to have her as one of my courier’s. Every morning she would walk in with a smile on her face and ready to take care of whatever was needed for the day. I have wonderful memories of her and will miss her. Love to her family from me! DJ
I will dearly miss Margaret. She was such a fun loving lady. Who else gets a ticket for speeding in Montana? I am sure the Highway Patrolman will not forget her anytime soon either. I enjoyed sharing concerts in the park in Bonney Lake and talking of road trips.
I hope you enjoy all the travels in heaven.
And Yes, I will enjoy all my cups of coffee and think of you, Margaret.
