Margaret Rose White-Miller
Margaret, 98, gently passed away in her sleep on September 12, 2015. She was born July 2, 1917, the 3rd of 6 children, in Manhattan, Montana to Frank and Lura Gonser. There her Dad had 1280 acres of dryland wheat, and had many good years farming until a huge hail storm wiped out his entire crop in 1929. From the good times to the hard times, these events helped shape Margaret into the feisty yet optimistic person she was known as. The family moved to Yakima, WA in 1930, where she graduated from Davis High School in 1935.
She met and married Sgt. Robert White in 1943 in Seattle, and after his discharge from the Army in 1945, they made their home in Burien. The family enjoyed camping in the North Cascades most summer weekends. After Robert’s death in 1979, she later married Carl Miller in 1984. They enjoyed traveling together, going for long walks, and dancing. After Carl’s death in 1999, Margaret moved into Wesley Gardens. She loved to travel, and toured Europe with the Boeing Choir. She was also a breast cancer survivor, and was a member of the Lake Burien Presbyterian Church.
Margaret worked most of her life as a bookkeeper and office manager, but her favorite job was a shoe model for Nordstroms.
She is survived by daughter Sandra McElroy (Richard) of Seattle, Erica Olander and Dave White (Barb) of Roslyn, WA, and Dale White (Judy) of Ellensburg. She has 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Margaret was known for her infectious smile and a positive attitude. She had a knack for making you feel better about yourself. She will be dearly missed by her family and the many friends she made. The family will have a “Celebration of Life” in Roslyn, WA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kline Galland Hospice Services or the American Cancer Society.
Margaret was a beautiful Lady inside and out. I got to know Both Carl and Margaret at Wesley Home. I was an employee but I became a good friend of hers for all the years she lived there. She was Loved by every one who knew her. Thanks to the family for Sharing you Mother with me and all of the residents and employee of WEsley. I soooo loved Aunt Margaret. She and I shared so much. We were bossom bookends. Both having had breast cancer and other stuff as well. I saw her in late august and she looked very frail but she looked up at me and said ‘well dorthy why are you here: so her mind was still good. OUR LOVE TO YOU ALL. DOT
Aunt Margaret, what a wonderful woman. I wish our families were more close to each other. We did get clippings from here garden that still are growing in NH (although we are not).

when we lived in Tacoma my husband Dale and I used to visit Margaret. she and my mom were friends for 75 years. we loved her and will miss her very much.She was a wonderful, happy person.
