Margene Olson (née Monson), aged 89, went to be with the Lord on July 16, 2024, in Normandy Park, Washington. Born on February 21, 1935, in Glover, North Dakota, she was the daughter of Paul and Laura Monson. Margene graduated from Devil’s Lake Central High School and married Marlo Olson on June 7, 1953. The couple was blessed with two sons, Robert and Marlon.
Margene dedicated her life to service and community engagement. She was actively involved in her children’s school PTA, served as a den mother in Cub Scouts, and volunteered daily at a nursing home where she cared for a bedridden woman for over ten years. For 25 years, she coordinated a local Meals on Wheels program, demonstrating her commitment to assisting those in need. Margene also had a passion for genealogy, weaving, and various crafts, which she pursued throughout her life. She successfully compiled six family history books, exploring her and Marlo’s lineage.
Her travels with Marlo brought them to many parts of the world, including Australia, Europe, and South America, enriching their lives with global experiences and cultures.
Margene is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Marlo; sons, Robert (Bob) Olson and his wife, Lisa Henderson, Marlon Olson and his wife, Trudy Olson; grandchildren, Adam, Joshua, Matilda, Collin; and her sister, Marlys Bay.
Margene’s family has opted not to hold public services. Bonney Watson in Seatac, Washington, is assisting the family during this time. Margene will be remembered for her unwavering love, dedication to her family, and her extensive service to the community. Her legacy of caring and commitment to helping others will continue to inspire all who knew her.
She was amazing.
