Obituary

Margie Luella Nagel

Margie Luella Nagel was born April 19, 1907 in Vermillion, Clay, South
Dakota. She married Mike George Nagel in 1926 in Wolf Point, Montana. She
passed away on March 18, 2008 in University Place, Pierce, Washington. She
is preceded in death by her husband Mike in 1986; one son, Odin in 1937 and
3 grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her 7 siblings. She is
survived by 3 sons and 1 daughter. She has 15 grandchildren, 16
great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

When Margie was a young girl the family moved to Breien, North Dakota and
lived and worked on the family
homestead there. Margie loved to work on the ranch, milking the cows and
riding horses. She plowed and planted many acres with a team of horses on
the ranch. She had a great love for animals, especially her saddle pony.
Later Margie moved to Montana where she met her husband Mike. After the
birth of the 3rd child they moved to Centralia, Washington. They lived in
Washington state for the remainder of their lives.

Her experiences were that of being a nurse in the horse and buggy days when
doctors made house calls. The doctor would call on her to assist him in
delivering babies. She remembered and recounted those experiences all of
her life. She enjoyed helping others and doing her best to encourage the
healing process. She was loving to all those around her, encouraging them to
have faith that things would turn out alright. Her children and
grandchildren remember her as being the best cook. She learned how to make
pastries from a pastry chef in Montana. She won blue ribbons at the county
fairs for canning and cooking. She also loved to crochet the finest doilies
and table linens. Her work was impeccable. She was very organized and
always did well on any task. She was a real partner with her husband and had
genuine love for him and her family. Good bye Mom, Gramma and friend. We
love you.
We will miss you. Until we all meet again.

We were blessed to have one of the greatest women around as our grandma. I will forever cherish every single moment I have ever shared with her. I will miss the many afternoon’s spent having coffee and cookies together. Many memories of walks, potato candy, bra shopping, and lunches at the “Pig Out”. I will miss her at every holiday gathering. But most of all, I will miss being able to hug her and hearing her voice. Her stories will live on forever and so will the love that she gave to each and every one of us.

God Bless you grandma. Give grandpa my love. In your words, “I am one man’s woman”.

Grandma…ahhhh…my memories from

9-12yrs. old ,Mom and dad would drop me off and I’d spend a week or so

with them during my summer vacation

from school….. Grandma like you’ve never seen her!! Cackling and yelling at the top of her lungs

as we watched Roller Derby go Joanie!!!together!! Tooo fun!!! Grandpa was reading the paper. We were both yelling and cheering every time::

But then…serious gramdma…fixing

breakfast…oatmeal got cold and I was being lazy 10 yr.old…pouted as I got to the table for breakfast.

Ughhh!! The breakfast was cold::

but grandma said EAT!!! Stop pouting

or I’ll slice that pouting lip off!!

Boy, did I eat and not complain!!!

As an adult and married myself….my

late husband and I started having anuual pig roasts for fun. Aunt Doreen

and Uncle Karl drove grandma to our

pig roasts where she was the “queen”

for 3 years in a row!!! She loved it and all loved her::

She shared with me once as I was about 14…her scars from being drug buy the draft horses when one got a bee sting….her scars were herrendous..but I loved her for sharing:: I shall miss her beyond

belief, but happy she can be with her husband…and love of her life!!

I always remember Grandma Nagel’s stories. She told many stories of her life on the farm, and being a nurse. I also remember the stories that she told of her courtship with her husband, and how she enjoyed dancing on the tables in her younger years. : I will miss hearing her recount her stories for awhile. Rest in Peace Grandma.

I’ll always remember grandma’s cackling laughter, her enormous smile; and yes, all those impassioned stories…

May she now have what she so dearly wanted, to be once again with her husband Mike.

Grandma was such a treat. We’re not sure she had a bad bone in her body. Always positive with a great sense of humor. We will always remember her laugh, it was contagious. In her long life she experienced the first automobiles, airplanes, televisions, radio, space ships, etc. However, she always was just grandma to her grandchildren. If only we could live such a long and fulfilling life!

Grandma, you will be missed!
