Obituary
Marian Anna Radley, 95, died peacefully on July 3, 2011 in Renton, WA. She was born in Helena, MT on March 28, 1916 to John and Martha Peabody. Marian was a proud member of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants, tracing her Peabody ancestry to Mayflower passengers John Alden and Priscilla Mullins. She married Clifford Radley on October 5, 1934. They moved from Helena to Oregon with their three daughters in 1948.
Marian was of gentle spirit and exemplified being a homemaker. The family referred to her as the June Cleaver of her generation because she was always wearing a dress with apron, cooking, cleaning, and making the home a home for her family and a place guests were always welcomed. The Look was reserved for those who were too full to accept third or fourth helpings when offered.
Marian enjoyed playing the organ for her family. She loved keeping busy and, especially in her later years, spent many hours in making crafts and enjoying her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Marian and Cliff were married 68 years and loved to dance to tunes from the big band era. They volunteered together at Beacon Hill Elementary School in Seattle, Cliff as a crossing guard through the Seattle Police Department, and both as volunteers in the school reading program. As a result, many kids called them Grandma and Grandpa, remaining in touch with them through the years.
Marian and Cliff spent many years as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and for many years dedicated themselves to work in the Seattle Temple.
Marian is survived by her daughters, Marian Leeper and Nancy Lewis Rambousek; grandchildren, Cliff, Jerry Teresa, Lou Ann Tom, Larry Kathy, Scott, Katrina Ron, and Teri; 18 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; brother, George Mildred Peabody; and sister, Dorothy Newkirk.
She was preceded in death by husband, Clifford Radley, daughter, Barbara Patterson, brother, Jack Peabody and granddaughter, Robyn Williford.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 12 at 1:00 pm at BONNEY-WATSON Washington Memorial, 16445 International Blvd., SeaTac, WA
I’m sorry to hear about Aunt Marian. I can remember their visits to Helena years ago. My heart and thoughts are with you.
