Marian was born March 5, 1954 in Moscow, Idaho.  Her parents were Albert and Jane Maurich.  She had three sisters, Chris, Kathy and Nancy and one brother Steve.  She and her family moved a short time later to SeaTac, Washington.  She grew up going to the local schools and graduated from Tyee High School.  During high school she made friends with four girls, Cathy, Jenny, Jody and Lorraine.  They remained close friends throughout the years.

After high school, she went to Washington State University and after two years transferred to the University of Washington.  She obtained a degree in Medical Technology.  During her senior year, she had the opportunity to do some training in Alaska.  Always an adventurous girl, Marian and another girl drove the Al-Can Highway to Fairbanks in the middle of winter.  Happily for Bill, she decided to return to Seattle after the training.

After graduation, she started working at the lab at the VA hospital in Seattle.  She would end up working there, with a few breaks for children and missionary work, for 38 years.  She retired as the supervisor of the Hematology section of the lab.  While at the VA, she meet Bill and they were married in September 1978.

Marian was the mother of three sons, Matt, Mike and Pete.  She enjoyed being a mom raising three fine young men.

Marian put her faith in Christ in 1992 while enrolled in Bible Study Fellowship.  She served as a group leader in BSF and a deacon at her church.  In 2000, she, Bill and the family moved to Nigeria as missionaries for the Rafiki Foundation.  While in Nigeria, she served in BSF and helped build an orphanage.

Upon returning to Seattle, Marian returned to work at the VA.  She enrolled in BSF and served as a Substitute Teaching Leader.

Marian was an avid football fan.  She loved her Huskies and Seahawks especially Richard Sherman.

Marian died 11/26/16 and has gone to be with Christ.  She was a beautiful woman and a great mom. She give 38 years of wonderful marriage and she was my best friend.

Marian and I went to high school together. We were in many of the same classes and played on the tennis team. She was highly intelligent, involved in most high school activities and such a nice person.

I enjoyed some sewing times with Marian and her special friends. I appreciated her bright smile and easy laugh. Her faith was not just a part of her life but defined who she was.

Her courage to take her family to Nigeria impacted me to trust God more in short term missions.

I am so sorry for the loss of Marian and the hole she leaves but can rejoice in her perfect peace and joy forevermore in heaven with Jesus who she loved with her whole heart.

For several years Marian and I worked in the hematology lab at the V A hospital .First we were colleagues then she was my supervisor .It was commonly acknowledged that Marian was the best supervisor in the lab and I felt blessed to be working with her .This I told her numerous times .She was fair, thoughtful and always expected the highest quality of work to be produced .

She took her walk with Christ seriously and strove to stay on the right path daily .This gave her great joy and perhaps is partially why she had such a vivid sense of humor .Oh what a joy to hear that laugh .

I often would babysit Marian and her sisters — before her brother was born.

So sorry that her family has lost such an amazing lady.

I am so sorry to hear about Marian. I met her at WSU and was Peter’s kindergarten teacher. I pray that your family will feel God’s peace in knowing that Marian is with Him.
