Obituary

Marie Bloomquist, 104, passed away Monday, January 6, 2020 at her son Roger’s home in Federal Way, Washington.

Marie Charlotte Cecile Burger was born January 3, 1916 on a farm near Lohrville, Iowa.  She was the second of four children born to Paul and Anna (Larson) Burger.  Her mother passed away in 1927 and the family subsequently moved to Gowrie, Iowa.  Marie married Victor Bloomquist in 1931 and they lived in Gowrie until moving to Kent, Washington in 1960.  Vic passed away in 1983.

Marie’s life centered on her family.  They came first with little room for herself or anything else.  Known for her sweet smile and kindness, she found satisfaction in life by doing for others.  An excellent cook and meticulous housekeeper, she was dearly loved by everyone who knew her.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother Frances, husband Vic, sisters Emma Cline and Lorraine Heine, brother Paul Burger and infant great-granddaughter Melisa Weidert.  She is survived by her sons Roger Bloomquist and Terry (Bonnie) Bloomquist, grandchildren Holly (Jerry) Conklin, Tyler (Tracy) Bloomquist, Signe (Lindy) Lippert and Joshua Bloomquist, great-grandchildren Paul (Heather) Weidert, Chad (Jessica) Weidert, Angela (Darren) Friesen, Abbegail Bloomquist, Nykailah Bloomquist, Blaike Bloomquist, great-great-grandchildren Olivia, Allysa, Logan and Carter, sister-in-law Myrtle Eyestone plus numerous nephews, nieces and other extended family.

Marie was an exceptionally kind and sweet person who only saw the good in people and never said anything negative about others.  She was truly a beautiful person inside and out who will be missed by all who knew her.  When informed of her passing, a nephew described her as a one of a kind saint.
