Marilyn Deanne Leach
Marilyn Deanne Leach, 65, lost her battle with breast cancer on January 8, 2010. Marilyn was born September 11, 1944 in Yakima, WA, and moved to Seattle when she was 11. She graduated from Ingram High School in 1962 and attended the University of Washington. She was introduced to the sport of hydroplane racing by her family where she met the love of her life, Buccaneer owner/driver John Leach. They married in 1963 in a catholic mass at St. Philomena Parish in Des Moines, WA. She was the proud and supportive ‘better half’ of John for his entire accomplished boat racing career. They built their first home in Federal Way in 1963 where they lived for 36 years. Their son David was born in 1964 and daughter Robyn in 1967. Marilyn worked as a school bus driver for the Federal Way School district for 26 years until her retirement. She and John then built their retirement dream home on Fawn Lake in Shelton where she lived until she died. She is survived by husband John, son David Leach, daughter Robyn Brian Reynolds, grandchildren Allyson and Austin Reynolds, her sister Patty Joe Clay, plus many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Marcella Beatty; in-laws Ned and Caroline Leach and sister-in law Nedra Griffith.
Marilyn was laid to rest Friday, January 15, 2010, at Gethsemane Catholic Cemetery in Federal Way, Washington. A Celebration of Marilyn’s Life will be held on Sunday, January 24th, @ 2:00 pm at the Olympic Flight Museum, 7637 Old Highway 99 SE, Tumwater, WA 98501. www.OlympicFlightMuseum.com

Marilyn, Peace be with you. Everyone you touched will miss you. Marilyn gave my nickname of Bob Boat to me – it has stuck for many years. I was proud that my second mother gave me that name. I will miss you and can say I am proud to have known you all these many yrs.
Remembering Marilyn will always bring a “smile” to our faces. She was fun to be with, always on top of whatever, a woman full of know-how, and just a pleasant, kind person. We’ve had a few unmistakable, memorable moments of times together in Hawaii. .Above all, you know this women loved her family deeply. Be in peace now. Aloha’Oe, Farewell to you dear Friend. Thank you for the times we spent together in Olympia and Hawaii.
