Marilyn Fay Mettlin was born on October 18, 1931 in Allison, IA, and died March 10, 2014 in Seattle, WA. Preceded in death by husband Jerry Mettlin, 2 brothers, and 1 sister. Survived by children Gerri Lynn (Joe) Goss, and Rory (Elysha) Mettlin; grandchildren Colton (Amanda), Jacob, Ethan, and Anastacia, step-grandchild Dylan Fisher; 1 sister and1brother. Marilyn grew up on a small farm and worked very hard.
She met Jerry while she was in high school and fell head over heels in love. After Jerry returned from Korea, they were married in 1952. She and Jerry moved to Washington in 1957 where they had their 2 children. From 1957 to 1976 she enjoyed camping and fishing as a family. Jerry died suddenly at the young age of 46. Marilyn raised her young son as a single mom and worked for the Tukwila School District. She retired as an executive secretary after 30 years in 1990. She spent many summers going to Lincoln City with her friend Lou and went out to dinner every Friday night. Marilyn also enjoyed many family trips to Hawaii and her time with her grandkids, which meant the world to her. She stayed very active walking the mall every morning. She made Christmas time very special and baked cookies every year. She also made the best apple pie and fried chicken. She lived independently until 2013 when her health declined. She moved into the Kline Galland nursing home, which she loved and was loved by them. She stayed there until the end of her life. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. We will miss her dearly. Donations to Highlands Community Church Mission Fund.
