Marjorie Dorothy Currie-Hicks, née Currie, of Federal Way, WA passed away on November 18, 2024, at the age of 80 surrounded by her family. Born on June 14, 1944, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, she had a vibrant and fulfilling life marked by her dedication to her family and her career.

Marjorie graduated early from Laurentian High School in Ottawa, Ontario at age 16.  Following graduation, she worked as the bookkeeper for the family business at Bullock Signs.  At age 19 she started her career at Metropolitan Life and later at Atomic Energy of Canada, both located in Ottawa. In 1967 she married her first husband Keith and they moved to Los Angeles, California, where she worked as an Executive Assistant at Control Data Corporation. She went on to have three daughters with Keith— Lara, Kathleen, and Roberta, and the 1970s saw her embrace the role of a homemaker and stay-at-home mom, a period she cherished deeply. The family relocated to the Pacific Northwest and in the 1980s, she resumed her career in Tacoma, Washington working as an Executive Assistant at Pierce Transit.  She then returned to Ottawa briefly where she worked as the HR Manager at OC Transpo. The 1990s brought her back to the Pacific Northwest, where she served as Executive Assistant at King Co. Dept of Natural Resources. Marjorie concluded her professional journey at the City of Federal Way, retiring in 2019 as a Grants Coordinator after more than 22 years of service.

Throughout her life, Marjorie was an active member of her community, participating in gymnastics and tap dance in her teens, Up with People and the Metropolitan Life Choir in her twenties and congregations at St. James United in Ottawa and Central Lutheran in Tacoma. Her hobbies included gardening, baking, knitting, taking hikes in the forest and spending time at the beach, which brought her immense joy and fulfillment.

Marjorie was known for her fun-loving personality, love of nature and passion for health foods and Canadian heritage.  She also enjoyed playing games and learning about new innovations, especially in science & astronomy. She took great pride in her family, dedicating herself to supporting her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was always there in a time of need.

Marjorie is survived by her daughters, Lara LaRose and partner Jon, Kathleen Horne and partner Kelvin, and Roberta Cameron; grandchildren, Ashley, Morgan, Auria, Kelvin Jr., Keva, Ayres, Alyvia, Symone, Safia, Zaynab, and Laila; great-grandchildren, Vivian, Balencia, Nellie, and Samira; and her younger brother, Alan Currie.
