Obituary

Marjorie Jean Skaret passed away peacefully on July 21.  She was born in Seattle on January 3,1921; the third of Alice (Orwiler) and Adolph W. Delzer, and grew up in Rainier Valley where she graduated from Franklin High School in 1939.  In 1942, she married Albert Van Skaret and the couple began 72 years of a devoted, loving relationship.  After World War II, when Al returned from service in the Navy, they built a home in West Seattle where they raised three children, Steven, Stanley and Kelsey.  For many years, Jean was an active volunteer for the Ryther Child Center, serving as president of her unit and as a founder of the organization’s R Shoppe thrift store in Ballard.  Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Doris Grotle, and brother, Bill Delzer.  She is missed and mourned by her sister, Nancy Hevly, her husband, Al and her sons, Steve and Stan of Seattle; daughter, Kelsey (Mark) Jensen of Kirkwood, Missouri; grandchildren Stefanie and Brett  Skaret; Julie, Bryce, Derek and Bennett Jensen, and by all of her extended family of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, August 3, at Bonney-Watson 16445 International Blvd. Contributions in memory of Jean may be made to the Ryther Child Center 2400 NE 95th St., Seattle, WA  98115.
