Obituary
Mark Cameron Amodei, age 48, departed to the angels after a long and courageous battle with esophageal cancer on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009, at home, where he lived with his sister, Tina and brother-in-law, Dan, surrounded by his family and his faithful friend Alex, the cat. Mark was one of the kindest, caring, loving, brave and courageous souls that ever walked the face of this earth. If he could help you he would do almost anything and took great pleasure and pride in being able to do so. He loved the simple things in life like the beauty of planting a tree, rose bush or some tomatoes and seeing them grow and produce beautiful flowers and fruits; sitting around a fire and taking pleasure watching the beautiful flames and sharing the time with people he cared about; taking a ride or doing the driving to the ocean and seeing the beautiful waves and sunsets; going to the store and finding just the right gift to give to someone he really cared about; taking care of tasks and jobs that needed to be done around the house or really any tasks that needed to be done and he could help; working on projects like installing a music system for a family member to bring beautiful sounds to their outdoors; his time participating in many recreational activities through the Kent Parks and Recreation Department, taking classes at Highline Community College and working for Enterprise Rent -A-Car before his illness and it just goes on and on. Anyone who knew Mark was better for having had the privilege of knowing him. He was truly a gift. Mark is survived by his sisters, Linda Bill Murphy, Louann Farnham, Nancy Amodei, Tina Dan Nelson; brother, Louis Kathi Amodei; seven nieces and nephews, Heather, Anna, Jamie, Sarah, Ryan, Krysta and Will. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth in December of 1999 and his father, Louis in March of 2009. Visitation/Viewing will be held from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm Sunday, April 19th followed by a celebration of Mark’s life at 3:00 pm at BONNEY-WATSON Washington Memorial, 16445 International Blvd., SeaTac, WA. 206 242-1787. Interment and reception will follow the service at the same location.
Mark Amodei has a special place in my heart, it’s warm and fuzzy, silly and happy. It’s like a little teddy bear brother. Thats what Mark mean’s to me. I love him like a little brother.

Mark just had a way about him… He made the world a better place one moment at a time. Everything he did was thoughtful and deliberate. He could make the simplest of things remarkable with his attention to detail and genuine love. Mark had this uncanny ability to bring out the best in any situation. Never did he say an unkind word about anyone, nor did he care to hear anything unkind. He could find joy in things most wouldn’t give a second thought to. His giggle gave you no choice but to feel his joy and giggle along with him. He loved others completely. I have so many fond memories of this incredible man and I will cherish those memories as long as I live. He truly was reMARKable…
We love you Uncle Mark.
The Beatles said it best, “All you need is Love” and it was just what Mark got from living with Tina and Dan. He learned about life, work, friends and family and would show that to those he got to know. I work with Dan and he would share stories of Marks latest adventure. He sure loved Christmas and decorating for it! He showed me all the lights and his newest led yard fixture this past November, it was a slightly foggy evening and that really accented the effect. He was a genuinely nice guy and will be thought of fondly by all he touched.
What a joy it was to know Mark and I am happy to have had the opportunity. I remember his face lighting up when we brought him a funny t-shirt. He truly was a gift God gave us on this Earth to give us a little glimpse of how it will be in Heaven! To have his happiness and attitude is what we should all strive for!
Mark is the gift that will give forever; his humility, caring, discerment, hardwork, impartiallity, never giving up, courage, selflessness, strength,….and Christ-like love are eternal. I am thankful Mark was shared with me and so many others. He was a miracle.

Mark was great. He taught me that even in the hard times of your life you can have joy and help others. He was taking out the garbage instead of staying in bed or inside when he was sick. He was a good helper.

Mark showed me how to be a real giver. He also knew how to love unconditionally. He has been a great inspiration to everyone at school . We all should be more like Mark.

Every time I felt sorry for myself, I remembered the hard time Mark was going through. All of my life I didn’t believe some things were possible, but when I heard of Mark’s miracles, I did believe things. Mark has inspired me to live the life I have to the fullest and to know what God wants me to do.

I only met Mark twice but when I did he would light up the entire room with a feeling of joy and love. Everyone has trouble, but Mark did not deserve it. I’m thankful for the life he had and even more for the joy he gave his family. I will miss Mark very much.

Mark never gave up and always had hope. He wasn’t a person who took, Mark liked to give and he thought of others. I want to be more like Mark and like to work like he liked to work.
I will miss Mark.

Mark taught me a lot through his trial with cancer. He did not ignore the problem but simply did his best to overcome it. He is proof to me that I should never give up and always do my best. I have grown to love Mark and he is an inspiration to me. I too, can shout “Persevere” in times of trouble and pain.
Thank you Mark. You are wonderful.

I didn’t get to meet Mark, but I heard many amazing stories about him. He was living proof that even with cancer you can live a very good life. He showed all of us that we are miracles just like Miracle Mark.

We will all miss Mark so very much! What a wonderful uplifting person he was. We have so many memories we will keep forever. He loved the pool, and would always come over and ask what he could do to help John so he could swim in the pool. John loved having him around the house. I will never forget the day he carried the plants through the house instead of around the house, because it was a shorter distance! He was always thinking!!! Rest easy with the Angels Mark, We love You,
Mark was truely one of kind that I had the honor to meet. Through these last few years, Mark was a fighter dealing with his illness and at the same time loved and respected Dan & Tina who cared for him during the last years. He is surely flying with the angels today and only wishing his cat was there with him. The Love & Grace of God be with you Mark.
I didn’t have the honor of knowing Mark very well. I’m truly sorry I didn’t. We were neighbors to the family when they lived in Georgetown before Mark was born. I love all of you and know Mark was a very special man. I know he will be truly missed. Shelley
