Obituary

Martha Jane Carlstrom was born May 6, 1910 in Harrison, AR. She died May 5, 2003 in Seattle, WA. She had lived in Seattle for about 60 years, during which time she was a real estate agent, real estate broker, legal secretary, and insurance secretary. She had worked for the Sheriff’s Department and had been a school aide. She had also worked at Boeing where she managed access to the blueprints for aircraft under construction or in planning. She was an avid gardener who delighted in making her yard look special and was noted for sharing plants or fruit and vegetables with others. Prior to moving to Seattle, she had been a caterer in the oilfield women’s sorority in Kansas, where she helped put on several ”big band” dances. She had been married twice, but had lived alone for about 30 years; seeing to her own needs with little, if any, assistance. She always opened her home to family who were traveling through, and would meet them at the airport when they had a layover, so she could see them or welcome them to her home. She was a tender hearted person who would cry as she showed you the shovel sharpened down to almost nothing which her father had used to help her plant the cherry tree in her yard probably 30 years ago. Martha Jane Carlstrom was predeceased by her father John Franklin Dillon Daniel; mother Jesten Luvenia Daniel; brother Oral Lee Daniel; sisters Jestene Ciziera Virden, Bernice Virginia Strickland, Mary Francis Kupers, and Lucinda Faye Spicher. She leaves a brother John Dillon Daniel and brother-in law Ora Spicher both of Klamath Falls, OR. She also leaves several nieces and nephews, other extended family and friends and neighbors. Funeral services will be at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 9500 Myers Way, Seattle WA, on Thursday May 15, 2003, with open casket viewing at 3:00 p.m. and services beginning at 4:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Bruce Jones, Brent Beck, Sergio Olivares, and Timothy Healy. Immediately following the service, burial will be at Bonney-Watson Washington Memorial Park, 16445 Pacific Hwy. So. SeaTac WA.

While I never had the pleasure of meeting Aunt Martha in person she was a lovely phone friend and I am saddened that I will never have to chance to say howdy from Missouri to her sweet voice again

I don’t remember alot about Aunt Martha but I always heard many things about her. She was a kind hearted person as she opened her heart to my hubby when he went College there and he loved helping her with her gardening as that was her passion along with her cats she loved. She will be greatly missed. God Bless.

Aunt Martha will be missed. Her smile and gentle manner will be missed – and so very much more.
