I knew Mary for many years as she would visit the architectural office I was employed at in Seattle. I was introduced to Mary and asked her if she had a brother, who I knew from WSU. She did and from that moment we would enjoy a cup of coffee every once in awhile as she tried to sell me the latest reprographric machine and we talked about life. She was a very happy women and enjoyed life to the fullest. When I discovered her interest in horses we would talk about our equestrian experiences and adventures. I lost track of Mary about 8 years ago, as I changed careers, but was sadden when I heard of her passing. I wish to extend my deepest sympathy to the family on the lost of very wonderful and beautiful women. God bless. Randy Slater

Although we weren’t close as adults, Mary was my “first-est” and “best-est” friend, and I will always treasure the great memories of our childhood. I’m so grateful to have been given the opportunity to visit with Mary one more time before she left us. Rena, I’m so sorry for your loss; my thoughts and prayers are with you.

I grew up in Shorewood just a few doors from the Hamburger’s and spent much of my time at the DeGroot’s and in our camphouse in the woods. I have very fond memories of Mary, she was older than us by about 6 years but she was always so kind to us and took so much delight in our fun. My deepest sympathy goes out to Rena, your daughter was truly a joy and will be missed by all. Peace and blessings. Brian Silkworth

Hello Dr. Rena! I have such fond memories of Mary and the Hi-Liners. She was always such a bright light and very bubbly. I just recently found out that she had passed.. My condolences. Life goes so fast and we are only here for such a short moment. As we get older we face our mortality and it is hard if we love life and still have more to do. I hope you and yours are doing well. I remember you fondly, Dr. Rena
