October 7, 1948 - April 20, 2002
Obituary
Mary J. Fitzgibbon was born in Blanch, Tennessee on May 3, 1925 to Joe and Viola Hall. Her parents preceded her in death at an early age. After her mother’s death, she moved to Canton, Ohio where she was adopted and raised by the Anderson family. The Andersons have also preceded her in death.
On October 7, 1948 Mary was joined in holy matrimony to Chester M. Fitzgibbon. They were married for 54 years.
Mary worked for Vogel Jewelers and Stein Jewelers in Los Angeles, California as a gemologist for many years before moving to Alaska due to her husband’s job. Then in 1960 they moved to Seattle, Washington from Alaska. She worked as a gemologist for Lako & Ross Jewelers for 171/2 years and then at Fredrick and Nelsons for 14 years in the Jewelry department before retiring in 1991.
Mary will always be remembered for her quiet smile, calm demeanor and pleasant attitude, accompanying her wherever she went and in whatever she was doing. Mary loved the beauty she saw in everyone and especially in children. For that reason and her exceptional patience and special time she took with them, many children became very attached to her.
Mary went home to Perfect Peace on Saturday, April 20, 2002. To cherish her memory on this side of God’s rainbow, she leaves her husband, Chester M. Fitzgibbon, a step son, six grandchildren and a nation of great grandchildren along with her family of friends which includes Marcia and Gregory Johnson, Janice Clayton, Lola Hayes, Gracie Williams, the Nelson family and a host of others who enjoyed her warm spirit throughout the years.
It was my pleasure to serve your family.
