Mary Jill Quinn

Jill was born on June 19th, 1935 in San Francisco California and went to be with the Lord on November 25th, 2007. She was the 3rd child born of John and Leonne McGuire. Jill met Joe Quinn in 1955 while at a Knights of Columbus picnic at Lake Wilderness. They were married January 10th, 1959 at Sacred Heart Church in Bellevue and were the second couple married at this church. Together they raised six children while residing in both California and Washington. She leaves behind her children John Dianne; Mike Kris; Jeannine David Needle; Matt Virginia; Jennifer and 8 Grandchildren.

Jill and Joe’s legacy of strong family values is passed down to those remaining.
Jill was quite the go-getter and involved in numerous social activities over her many years. She was never afraid to take on big challenges ranging from her years as a flight attendant for Pan American Airlines, helping shuttle and nurture six children in all their busy schedules, volunteering at numerous charity organizations and visiting the sick as part of her church ministry and outreach.

Jill and Joe were married for 48 years and shared a deep friendship and love that included lots of time spent in the garden and walking together. Additionally, they regularly traveled to visit their kids in multiple domestic and international locations.

Jill played a large role in shaping the hearts and character of her children and grandchildren. Her outgoing and energetic nature was always present as she was called upon to assist in various activities to include babysitting, numerous home projects which always seemed to include paint, glue and sewing!, and preparing for the holidays. Jill loved playing games with her children and grandchildren. She was deeply proud of all her children/grandchildren and was their continuous and faithful prayer advocate. Jill made a special effort on each birthday to assemble a wall of pictures depicting the birthday boy or girl in order to make the particular child feel special on their day.
Jill was the consummate positive person with a deep and encouraging spirit, never complaining or dour in spite of her own health challenges. Jill found happiness and joy in all situations, whether it was her own health issues or difficulties others were encountering. She was always there to support those family, friends and even strangers who were in need of a good listener and supporter. She was recognized as a “favorite patient” by her doctors and nurses because of her gentle and positive manner. Jill was always there to support others; to anyone, at anytime, no matter the circumstance.

Jill enjoyed participating in various interest groups for many years and had a great love of learning. Her “Holy Names Girls” were a central part of her life since high school. With the assistance of others, Jill formed a book club which satisfied her intellectual curiosity while providing her another social avenue to make close friends. Inspired by the success of the book club, she assisted in the formation of an investment club which provided its members an ability to pursue common goals. Her love of the Lord and faithfulness to her church was central in her life and was continually demonstrated through participation in prayer groups, hospitality assistance and on-call support to those in need.

Galatians 5; 22 – 23 – “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness , self control; against such things there is no law”.

Jill was filled with the Holy Spirit and leaves all of us a legacy of love, caring and compassion.

Uncle Joe, you are in my prayers and always will be. I have so many of the most beautiful memories of aunt Jill. She was always so kind to me and when we visited, in my heart, I knew she was one of the few that really spoke from her heart……. She loved me and always made me feel loved, a gift God gives to many but only the chosen are able to accomplish.John, Mike,Jeanine,Jenny and matt, I love you and you will be in my prayers…. I think the only thing that got me through dad and marys death was the simple truth that they are home now. They are free of the suffering this life brings and are now enjoying the wonders of heaven with Jesus, Mary and Joseph.”Eye has not seen, nor ear has heard the wonders of heaven for those who love God.I have another saint to pray too! I love you guys and hope you are doing OK… Iam so sorry , mom wasn’t able to get a hold of me because I recently moved and hadn’t given her my new phone number yet. Please forgive me….my love and prayers to all of you……

My thoughts and prayers will always be with Jill and her family. It was Jill who played an important part in bringing the Catherine McGuire Bender family together with the rest of the McGuire family a few years ago. She opened her heart to us and we will be forever grateful. She is a kind, warm and wonderful person whom we will miss.

Peace and Love,

Jodi Lambert and family

Having just returned from the memorial service in honor of Jill, I truly believe she would have been so touched by the thoughtfullness each of you family members contributed. From Mike’s tribute to John’s expression of gratitude, the service eloquently and lovingly honored her memory. Jennifer and Matt brought honor to their mother and to the scriptues with their readings. I think all of us in the sanctuary were moved by the participation of the grandchildren. Hannah, Rachel, Hillary, Isabelle, Robert, Greta, Joseph and Jacob, your efforts did your grandma proud. Well done.

Meeting and becoming Jill’s friend through our Quest to Invest group has been such a privilege and joy. She shared her time and her leadership gifts so generously and was always supportive and encouraging as we strove to become more knowledgeable investors. Her thoughtfulness and caring ways will truly be missed.

To my dear Friend Joe, and your loving family.

I was crushed to learn through my fellow “Holy Names Girls” that my sweet dear friend Jill, went to be with the Lord. Boy, is the Lord ever lucky. She is Home at last, no longer suffering, and she tells her family still on earth, not to be in sorrow, as there is much work for them to do here on earth, such as the legacy of their leader in Christ, Mary Jill. I so well remember dipping her pigtails in the ink well at school, as both having the surname of Mc & Mc McIlvaine & McGuire. We had so much fun together, and kept a lifetime friendship that shall never end. Jill and I will meet again some day, when the Lord is ready for me. Oh, for that joy to come.

Dear Joe, my special love is with you always. I am sorry that I cannot be there for the services, I am on my knees tonight with my beads, and tomorrow, will be with you all in spirit at the memorial.

My love is with you all. God Bless, and know that Jill is so safe, and appreciate all the strength that she gave to her loved ones by her example.

My arms are wrapped around all of you with love,
