Happy Birthday Mom, Today is your first birthday in Heaven. I can imagine your birthday song sung by a choir of Angels but a lone voice is singing the high harmony at the end. Dad always sang that part. I can just hear him ! Love to be celebrating another birthday with you but someday we will. Miss and Love you both. !! Joyce Ann

I just want to thank everyone for sharing memories here. I am reminded of all the wonderful times we all shared with Grandma and Grandpa. Some personal and great gifts that make them feel alive in the past and now. Today is Grandma’s celibration of life, and what a great way for me to celibrate by reading all the beautiful stories! I’m sure She is looking down and smiling, knowing just how much she touched all of our lives in so many ways! Grandma was a person that glowed with life, love and the joy of God in every thing she did. Today and everyday I think about you and Grandpa and I hope to live my life as good as you did. I look for guidence from you and hope to be with you one day again so we can talk about all your great adventures. Say hi to my rabbit Hamlet for me, the one you held so many years back. I love to think of all the good times we shared! heidi

Grama Mary, I am a more confident man in my relationship with Marni because I know we have your blessing. I was lucky enough to see the example of Grandpa and your love before he passed. I am deeply thankful to have been able to spend some great times with you. You left us too soon, we selfishly wished you’d be here for our wedding. Marni and I believe you both will be with us every step of the way guiding us as we work towards 60+ years of marriage like you.

We all remember and cherish the goodness you brought the world. If we can each give a portion of what you did everyday there will soon be peace.

We love and appreciate you!

Having grandma living in Burien for the last year was a gift. She was able to participate in many family gatherings, birthdays and enjoy spending time with with relatives. I feel blessed that grama was able to see my children grow. You could see the enjoyment in her eyes when she watched Mason4 and Delaney 2 play on the floor at her feet. They would sit with her and talk about anything. Mason was thrilled when grama joined him for lunch at school. He took pride in showing her his classroom.

In the last year we seldom saw my mother Kathy without grandma in tow. When she was solo the kids would immediately ask “Where’s grama Mary?”.

I now tell them that grama Mary is in heaven happy with grandpa and she is watching over us……….so you better be good!!!!

Grandma, I have been so blessed to have you for 86 years in my life. You are such a beautiful soul. One of my special memories of you and Grandpa was at my wedding. You and Grandpa cut up the rug that night dancing so well together. And then trading partners. Grandma danced with Jamie my husband of 13 years and going strong. Grandma owned the dance floor with Jamie. She definately took the leed in that dance. Jamie was really impressed. And told me later how good of a dancer she is. My Grandpa danced with my mom. It was a magical night. I had both sets of Grandparents at my wedding. That was such a blessing. Now I have one left my Grandpa Duke. My Grandma is such an inspirational women. She touched so many lives including mine. Her smile lights up a room. Her laugh caries in you. When she laughes you can’t help but feel so good inside. I am so proud of my Mom Kathy,Joyce,

and David for putting such a great web site together sharing her life with all of us. I know that May 31st will be a special celebration of Grandmas life in beauty. I miss you Grandma very much but I know you and Grandpa are cutting up the rug again. With all my love, Jacquelyn

Grama,

Beautiful smile; To everyone she met, weither stranger, family or friend always a radient, loving and geniuan smile.

Giving; Baking cookies, knittng everything imaginable, oil paintings, kind words, bathroom soaps, flowers from the yard. Grama could never stop giving. If she had it she would give it and if she didnt have it she would make it and it was yours. Truely the most giving person I have ever met.

Care giver; Took care of every one who needed a friend, nurse, mom and teacher. Im reminded especially the of the resedents in mcminville who needed help by a good hot meal or someone to talk to, even sheets changed on their beds. Grama with out hesatation would go to them helping with kindness of a saint. She never expected anything in return. She truely made them feel loved and important. We could all learn by her selfless way of being.

Beautiful women; Grampa knew he was married to the most beautiful woman in the world, and he was right. Inside and out! Grampa always dressed her up in the most pretty clothes and jewelry proud as can be. In her closet more shoes then at the shoe store and a purse to match.

Fun; Fun loving spirit and energetic. I could never keep up with her. fast walker and if something needed to be done it was done right now. Always loved food. Her favorite like mine, mexican cha cha cha!!! She loved those chips and salsa. She even made her own. When she laughed she had a funny saying, oh godfrey! and a cute little snort.

Their are so many wonderful things about my Grama we could write a book. She and Grampa made all of us feel special and important. I am so greatful to be a part of their lives. They will always live on in my heart and in the hearts of others they touched throughout the years.

We will all be reunited again. Until then, I love you very much.

We talked, spent time together, ate meals together, shopped, took trips and laughed together. Holidays will never be the same without you. Grama, There are not enough words to describe how much you meant to me… I am so appreciative of the times we were able to spend together one on one, and with Grampa. You put so much love in whatever you were doing and whomever you were with. I will always remember our summer days together in Amity and McMinniville. Going to art classes together to see your works inspired my love of painting and ceramics, and I was always happy doing a project with you. I loved working with you in the garden, shucking peas or whatever. You always used to tell me that Grampa was the one with green thumb but I think you both were. I also loved swimming with you because I knew how hard it was but also how much i amazed you at my ease in and love of the water. My all time favorite memory of you through Grama, is when Grampa and dad had just finished laying down the cement for his last shed at your place in Amity. There were no walls up yet and I asked you to sleep with me outside on a cot, and in a sleeping bag, and you did so willingly. We stayed up for what felt like hours to look at the stars, listen to the frogs, and talk about who knows what. I also want to say how special it was for me when you would introduce me to anyone you knew as your grand-daughter visiting you from seattle, you made me feel like a queen. The love you and Grampa shared will always be an example for me to live by. You will be forever in my heart, XOXO.

Mom,

It is so difficult to say “Good Bye”, we had just begun go have the one on one time together that most Mothers and Daughters have a lifetime to enjoy. The time we spent together has been full of sharing the love of family; stories of times gone bye; encouragement as we face our daily challenges and lots of laughing and giggling; all which I will miss so much. I will hold all these special memories in my heart.

As I watch the sunrise in the morning I will picture you awakening the day with your smile. In the evening as the last rays of the sun fade from the sky I will think of you closing your eyes as you go to sleep. You always reflected on the joys and good times of each day, being so appreciative of what was done for you. Mom, you were one of the special people that made it so fun to be with and I so enjoyed caring for you. It is said a Mothers love is reflected in those she loves and that is such a true reflection on the wonderful job you did with your children. Your love will live forever in each of us. I hope that I live my life by the examples set forth by my Moms. May I give to my family the same love, compassion and encouragement you have given to me.

Good bye my beautiful, loving Mother in Law.

I will love you always,

Linda

Aunt Mary Lou, Uncle Bob, Kathy, Joyce and David and my family spent a lot of time together growing up, spending many weekends together. She was a great person and housekeeper.

Back in the ’40’s she rented a room in Jim Harland’s home in Puyallup, who was my Mom’s step dad. Aunt Mary Lou got my Mom a job with the phone company. While she dated Uncle Bob, Dad and Mom met, so she is the reason my sibblings and I are “Hendricksons.”

She was a perfect wife, always gracious and moral, and raised fine children. She lived a long happy healthy life. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer person.

I’m so sad my wonderful sister-in- law Mary Lou has passed away. Mary was a close friend to me for more then 60 years, like a sister. We always had a great time when Bob & Mary and my wife and I got together. I’ll tell you some funny stories about Mary and I. Once we sat in church and the priest told a joke that didn’t go over,I whispered in Mary’s ear;”Boy father, you’re a riot” We both got the giggles that wouldn’t stop and received dirty looks from brother

Bob. Another time, Mary made me a batch of Lutafisk, that night I got sick drunk on screwdrivers, and saddly I had to throw my new shoes away because I couldn’t get the Lutafisk smell out of them. Lastly, Mary always made my kind of chili, not hot. So one night she dished me up a bowl of chili and she’d forgot to put beans in it.She was really embarrassed. There after, any time she’d offer me chili, I say;”Yes if there’s beans in it!”

I truely loved Mary Lou, is was a wonder person, a great wife to my brother and a good Mom and grandmother. To me, the best sister-in-law in the world.God bless her. Chuckie

I will miss my sweet Mother. She was my best friend and not only do we look alike we have the same personality. My mother was always my Angel on earth and now my Angel seems closer to me in Heaven and watching over all of those she loved. I know it was her desire to be with Dad and I wish I could of been there for their happy reunion. I am filled with joy at her being back in the arms of her mother Rose whom she lost at only age three. She had a great devotion to Our Blessed Mother and died after saying the rosary for all her loved ones. She prayed daily and her list was very long. I surely will miss my mother’s prayers, her happy smile ,giving spirit and the love she had for me. I will miss calling her on the phone and her always answering with,” Hi, Sweetheart”I Love you Mom! Thank you God for giving me the best !! Joyce Ann

I will spread the love that you gave me, around the world too!

You never did judge us,

accepted us all.

Found goodness in everyone

no matter, how small.

So glad that you shared with us,

your last year back home.

The sun now sets on you,

with warm after glow.

See you later Mom,

I love you, David
