Obituary
Melanie Finley, born January 10, 1955, lost her courageous battle of almost 7 years against cancer. Her strength and courage during her ordeal was unbelievable to all who knew her. Until the very end, she was sure she would win the battle. She was preceded in death by her mother. She is survived by her beloved husband, Gene, her father, C. V. Scott Joyce, her sister Kathryn Gray Jim, her brothers Keith Sue, Kevin Arlene, David Debbie and many nieces and nephews. She was a graduate of Tyee High School and attended Western Washington University. She thoroughly enjoyed her bookkeeping profession, but her real love was her husband, her home, her family, her cats and all of the wild creatures, feathered and furry, who came to share their yard and were treated as her honored guests. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, September 29th, 2007 at 12:30 pm at BONNEY-WATSON Washington Memorial, 16445 International Blvd., SeaTac, WA 206 242-1787. Melanie, this is Becky
Iam really sorry that we never got to meet each other. The way Gene talked about you when we talked on the phone, Iknow I would have liked you alot. I really hate it so bad that you got sick and passed away, but I know you are in a better place where there is no more pain and suffering. You will always be remembered for being a sweet and loving person, and you will be in our hearts forever.
Love,
Becky
I couldn’t share yesterday my memories about Melanie, it was such a beautiful service though. She and Gene lived two doors down from my mother Fleta and I until they moved to the country. : I missed walking down, sipping ice tea and sun-tanning on her back deck. We used to joke to see which one of us could get the “tannest”. I believe Mel always won. Once they moved, we kept in touch by celebrating Christmas Eve with each other. It was a very special time and a tradition we looked forward to each year. As the years passed, we’d laugh because we never could remember whose “turn it was”. : Mel and I always shared our love of our four-legged children, we both commented that sometimes we liked cats better than humans. I also had the distinct pleasure of doing her manicures for many years. She will be missed everyday by so many.
I just learned that Gene was my brother. Oh how I wish I could have know him and Melanie. Sounds like you two had much fun.
Mel, your spirit will always be admired and missed. Thank you for love of all things four-legged! Gene, thank you for always making her happy. All my love and best wishes.
Melanie was one of the sweetest, most thoughtful people I have ever met. She will be greatly missed.
Was feeling nostalgic and began looking for you. Sadly, I have found that you passed away 16 years ago. You were a great friend to me at Western Washington State. I remember so clearly your dazzling blue eyes and your wild hair. You drove around in a Volkswagen bug. I think it might have been blue.
How many times did you drive me to Vancouver, BC so that I could train it or fly home to NYC on school breaks?
You were intelligent, vivacious, and kind.
Rest in peace.
