Obituary
Mercedes dela Cruz
Mercedes dela Cruz, 93, of Seattle, WA, has passed away and started her journey to reunite with her husband of 74 years, Isidro T. dela Cruz on March 14, 2013. On and before her day of passing, her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives and friends surrounded her with constant love and prayers. She was loved by all.
Mercedes was born in Bauang, La Union, Philippines on February 3, 1920. She was seventh out of eight children of Mariano and Guillerma Anden. It was a chance meeting 75 years ago where a strapping young Isidro noticed an attractive young Mercedes. He knew he must meet this woman and he boldly walked to her and introduced himself. From that moment on, they created 9 beautiful children who had 22 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Mercedes was a strong, but simple woman. Her life was given to God, her husband, her children and her grandchildren. In her lifetime, she protected two of her children when the Empire of Japan occupied the Commonwealth of the Philippines during World War II. She would inspire, love and teach nine children. She would travel the world to help and assist her children with the raising of her grandchildren. She settled down in Seattle where a large part of her children and grandchildren resided. Mercedes was best described by one of her grandchildren as “Strong, faithful, brave, funny and a role model.” She is going to be greatly missed by us.
She is survived by her children: Norma, Roberto, Amelia, Rita, Lydia, Helen and Gloria; son-in-laws: Al G., Raul, Al A., Jose and Arnold; daughter-in-law: Adoracion; her grandchildren: Alma, Leilani, Anne-Lynn, Dolly, Rowena, Robert Jr., Mylene, Raquel, Jinky, Michael, Angelo, Joseph, Patrick, Ryan, RJ, Rachel, Lawrence, Leila, Lourdes, Tatiana, Katirina, and Giovanni; grandson-son-inlaws: Shawn, Craig, Tom, Fritz, Christopher, Jerome, Boyet, and Sean; granddaughter-in-laws: Cheryl, Michelle, Ines and Lisa); and her great grandchildren: Cassidy, Maverick, Christian, Beatrice, Joshua, Zachary, Ariel, Chantel, Beng-Beng, Mica, AJ, Aaron, Sebastian, Lauryl, Taylor and Emmy.
And by her two siblings: Liling Floirendo (99) and Arsendia dela Cruz (90.)

Grandma, we will miss you, your smiles, your words of wisdom, your stories and your love. We know you are in a better place and with your loving husband now. And because of that it makes it easy for me 🙂 Please watch over us on earth. And we will see you again one day in paradise! Love you very much Grandma!
I still constantly think of you grandma. I miss you so much. It has been different without you here. You’ve been the strong foundation for the family. I want to say “thank you” for all the things you have done for me and the family. I will never forget the time what you told me when you held my face and looked me in the eye and told me to do this. I will keep my promise on that grandma. I’ve never had my heart broken but after your passing away I feel like a piece of my heart is missing. I miss your smile and laugh. It will take time to heal but all I ask is if you could be the angel watching over my two little girls. I LOVE YOU!!!
