Obituary
Michael Francis Hardiman, 02/09/22 06/27/11.
Mike was born in Seattle as the 2nd of three sons to Michael and Margaret Hardiman. He died with great courage and dignity while his wife of 61 years, Virginia, held his hand. He was 89 years old. Mike attended St. Josephs Grade School, Seattle Preparatory High School and graduated from Seattle University. He spent 20 years in the Marine Corps serving early on in the South Pacific. He was proud to be a Marine. Mike met Virginia in college and they married in 1950. They were inseparable companions. He is survived by his wife Virginia; daughters, Mary Ann and Ginni Bill; son, Michael Gail and 6 grandchildren: Kristen Jason, Sean, Ryan, Alexandra Brian, Anne and Jack. Mike had a lifelong love for his Catholic faith, his family and his memorable family dinners hosted at Canlis and Palisades. He possessed a keen Irish sense of humor and used that cleverness during his 23 years as co-owner of William Staadecker Jewelers, where he built a thriving business. Mike had a very fortunate and long life spending his retirement years in Magnolia. He will be missed by his wife, his family and Benjamin, his helper the past few years.
Rosary will be held on Thursday, 06/30 at 7:00 pm at BONNEY-WATSON Capitol Hill, 1732 Broadway, Seattle. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, 07/01 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 3301 West Dravus Street, Seattle. Remembrances in Mikes name may be made to: Seattle Prep High School, 2400 11th Avenue East, Seattle, WA 98102. Attn : Liz Brennan.
The loss of your father is also a loss to the St Annes community who thought highly of your Dad and the Hardiman family. He was blessed to have lived a long productive life.
I knew Mike on Capitol Hill and we entered the Marine Corps together July 1, 1943. He was a good friend of my brother Tom and I remember him as a friendly face at our Marine Corps training in the V12 program at the “U”..

One of my best childhood memories is that of my cousin Kerin & I being being flowergirls at Virginia and Mike’s wedding. We had a wonderful time and were made to feel so special. Mike also made me feel special when I was engaged. I recall him sitting at my parents’ kitchen table with my to-be husband, Gary and I discussing my future wedding ring and the classifications of diamonds. I remember trying to suggest that the best buy would be the “biggest diamond even if it had a minute flaw” . “No, “ Michael said, “you are special and should have the best without a flaw and it will last a long time”. We follwed his advice; that was 49 years ago. Proud to be your relative, Mike, give all the family in heaven a hug.
Mike was truly an authentic man. He could see right through a person, if they were real or not. And he would call it out. I’ll also miss his ironic sense of humor. His last years of his life were some of his happiest with Virginia, his children and grandchildren for which he was most grateful, I know.
I was very sorry to learn of Mike’s passing and am thinking of you all.
