Obituary
Mike passed away April 22, 2017 at the age of 65.
The second child of Owen and Fern Martin, he graduated from Seattle Prep and attended St. Martin’s University until, at the age of 21, during surgery he suffered a stroke due to an undiagnosed vascular disorder called Moyamoya disease. He was permanently disabled, unable to live independently, and not expected to survive his parents. He earned the title of “The Brother With 19 Lives” and found happiness in fishing, following all our local sports teams, and volunteering for several years at the Seattle Aquarium. It was hard for him to watch all his siblings grow up and leave home while he remained dependent on our parents until their passing, so some of his happiest years were spent living with his big brother Chris, who was an exceptional roommate and caregiver for the last 17 years.
In addition to Chris, survivors include siblings Betsy Martin Rothstein (Barry), Nancy Martin Hughes (Steve), Doug (Renee), Peter (Tina Stewart), Mimi, Rick (Renata), 9 nieces and nephews, his uncle, Don E. Martin, his aunts Carol Ann Radovich (John, decd.) and Dee Rosenfeld (Jack), 4 cousins and their families.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 4th, 11:00am at Washington Memorial Park, 16445 International Blvd., SeaTac, WA. Arrangements by Bonney-Watson.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Seattle Aquarium.
he may be disabled but goes to show how much people can do when they are disabled did not know him but proud of him
