Obituary
Michael Jon Spridgeon, age 44, died peacefully at his home on Monday, December 28, 2009. Michael is survived by his parents, Shirley and Robert; sister, Tammy Cal Sorrell; brothers, Darren and Kenneth Carol Spridgeon; nephews, Justin, Chris and Tyler. Born in Seattle, he graduated from Highline Hi School and attended Highline Community College.
Mike was a dedicated UDUB fan, never missing a football game. He touched the lives of many youngsters with his dedication and humor as a baseball and basketball coach; a referee and as a Board member and Umpire in Chief for PacWest Little League—We will miss you always Mike, yet your spirit will be with us forever.
A ‘Celebration on Mike’s Life’ is planned for Jan. 17th, 2-4pm at ‘The Cove’ in Normandy Park. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Michael Jon Spridgeon Memorial Fund at any US Bank Branch.
Thinking about all of you.
Im so sorry for your loss
I was struck with such sadness upon hearing of your loss. Michael was a very special person! Watching Janell’s video tribute brought all the memories flooding back to me of Mike’s kindness. He would give the shirt off his back to a stranger. We were all better for having known Mike. He made the trials of high school life a lot less daunting and I could tell that he served as a positive role model for countess youth in his community. That giving never ends! May you always find comfort in that. Blessings of peace to your family.
I can even believe hes gone..Mike was more than a basketball coach, he was a father figure..And a damn good friend. I’m still in shock and cant get mike out of my mind. So many people loved you. But i guess god just decided it was your time to leave us.. We’ve all lost a friend, but we have all gained a guardian angel in Mike. May your soul rest in eternal peace Mike.
I met Mike at a conference in St Louis for our company. As soon as I saw Mike dressed head to toe in Husky gear, I knew we would be friends. I grew up a Husky fan, and it was so great to banter with him about the games. I always appreciated our love of the Huskies and our mutual dislike of the Ducks. I knew that he was smiling the day that Ohio State spanked the Ducks in the Rose Bowl. It made the game that much more special. Whenever we spoke, he always called me “Dawg”. I will miss our Monday morning quarterback emails about the game. Rest in peace, Dawg.
Mike was a one of a kind person and I was truly blessed to have spent as much time with him as I did, he was a great friend and will be truly missed
Dear Bob and Shirley,
It was wonderful seeing the two of you again and being able to be around so many people who truly loved Mike. I agree with what was said,”It isn’t the days that we have lived, it is how we live those days.” Mike was a true beacon for so many young children. I loved watching his videos on the basketball court, his eyes simply twinkled. I remember one holiday that we had a bunch of snow, he could not drive his car, so he walked all the way here to see Debbie. Jerry was so impressed he drove him home. What a sweetheart. Debbie and I both felt a little twinge when we saw her with Mike during the video. They looked so young!
Accept our hugs, tears and prayers; we will miss Mike.
Love to you both, Sue and Debbie Perez Green
Gaye and I would like to express our condolences to the family.
Dear Spridgeons, I have had the pleasure of knowing Mike like he was my own brother. He spent many hours at the house with my brother, Todd growing up. I was definately picked on less when Mike was around. Our family has countless fond and funny memories of Mike during many of the Malo family events. Mike and his memories will always be a part of our family. We will miss him greatly. With love and condolences, Nathan and Dana Malo Wammer.
Was so sorry to read in the paper of the loss of your son, Michael. I did not know him personally, only as the little brother of Tammy, Darren and Kenneth. Loosing a child has to be one of the greatest losses there is and my heart and prayers are with you Shirley, Bob and family. I fondly remember spending many hours at your house working with Girl Scout projects. God be with you! Marilyn
Dear Spridgeons, we cannot express how sad we are. Mike was a very special part of our family ever since Todd picked him as the brother we couldn’t give him. We were always happy when Mike was with us. His personality just didn’t let anyone mope when he was around. We loved him like our other son and our hearts are broken that we won’t see him for a while. Our love and prayers are with you. The Malo Family
Dear Spridgeon Family,
I’m deeply shocked and surprised to say goodbye to my first friend I met at school in Kindergarten. We were 5. Being lucky enough to go all the way through school and beyond with Mike allowed for many great experiences and memories. I miss him and I could go on and on about the connection the Jensen Family has with the Spridgeon Family. God Bless You. I Love You Mike.
David
With much love and my heartfelt sympathy. I’m so sorry that I won’t be able to be with you all.
We wish to extend our deepest sympathy to the spridgeon family. We feel that we are one of the luckiest of families to have known Mike. To us Mike, Kenny and Darren are family. We are privileged to see the brothers at different times every month for their haircuts and other little events for as long as I can remember. Mike is and was a good man. We will deeply miss him. Thanks Mike for being there for us when we needed you.

Extending our deep and heartfelt sympathy to all Mike’s family and friends. I am thankful our paths crossed. Peace be with you.
I first met Mike on March 14th, 1986.. He trained me at Doug Fox Travel. We became good friends and worked together almost non-stop over the next 13 years, moving from Doug Fox, to Cort Furniture, to Graebel and finally Bank and Office Interiors. I last saw him on November 13th, 1999 and soon after lost track of him. I had tried contacting him off and on over the last 3 or 4 years and was deeply saddened to hear the news of his passing. My deepest sympathies to his friends and family.. the world is a sadder place without him
I had the fortune of working with Mike at Cort Furniture in Kent. Mike and I got to work long hours together and I will always remember what a hard worker and passionate guy he was. Great guy with a huge heart! I hope the family will find peace in this tough time.
Mike was a great neighbor and friend for the past 6 years. I could always count on him to be there to help me fix something, or just talk. He was a great listener. Mike always had a funny story that would make me laugh till I cried. I will miss him very much.
Prayers & thoughts for a wonderful family.

I worked with Mike and enjoyed his sunny upbeat personality. Whenever I needed his help he was great to work with and went out of his way to “make it happen”. I know the people on his staff enjoyed working for him. I was very saddened to hear of his passing. I will be out of town on the 17th. Please know that Mike and his family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Lynn and Carl Nelson
