Michael Louis Anderson

July 4, 1940 - May 26, 2025

Obituary

Michael Louis Anderson, born on July 4, 1940, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, passed away in Seattle, Washington, on May 26, 2025, just before his 85th birthday.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sandra; his children Martin, Thomas, and Rebekah; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren—each a testament to the life and love he nurtured.
Michael was a lifelong reader and devoted naturalist, captivating those around him with his deep knowledge of local history, river systems, and an ever-expanding range of subjects he eagerly explored. From a young age, Michael found joy in the outdoors—a passion he passed on to his family through countless camping trips, hikes, and cherished moments spent together in nature. He found joy in growing his own food and sharing it with those he loved, often hosting family gatherings in his garden.
Family was always at the heart of Michael’s world. He especially cherished the annual trips he took with Sandra to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico—moments of sunshine, laughter, and lifelong memories.
Later in life, Michael reconnected with his family history, finding his sister Marsha and his niece Paula through Ancestry.com—bringing closure to a lifelong search for the family he never knew as a child.
In lieu of a formal service, the family invites those who knew Michael to honor his memory by sharing stories, messages, and photos on this site. Your remembrances will be a lasting tribute to a life well-lived and deeply loved.

Tomorrow is Mike’s birthday, I know he’s not here to celebrate but there was a celebration when he left his earthly body for his heavenly body. I miss his comments on Facebook which I looked forward to. Sandy I know you’re missing Mike daily, may God comfort you until you celebrate your reunion one day.

I lived next door to Sandy, Mike, and their family for my entire childhood. I was friends with Becky, but Mike made an impression on me as a great Dad, even though I was a child. My heart hurts for you all with this loss of Mike.

I’m so, so sorry for your loss. I’m thinking of the days of the bi-weekly nail nights, hanging out in the garage with Sandy and Rebekah while Mike would be on his ham radio, him giving me giant zucchini from the garden, of the conversations at many gatherings, and still have the hand written recipe he gave me for his delicious salsa. Miss you, Mike. Sending love to you all.

I can’t remember a time growing up that I didn’t see him smiling. I saw the same smiles in each of your smiles & still do in pictures. I see his love of literature in Rebekah and nature and rivers in Tom and Martin. Family…his legacy. Truly beautiful to have lived well with Sandy and to be so well loved for almost 85 years! RIP & Happy birthday Mike

Mike, you were the best 2nd dad a girl could have growing up!! Always tolerating Rebekah and me through our crazy years of growing up. You had the greatest sense of humor and always made me laugh. You were kind and loving and I will forever adore you. You will be missed. Rest in Peace. I sure hope I get to see you in the next life. Love always. ♥️
